In my case there was one, "Fear Of The Dark". A friend came to my home with the vinyl... and here it all began (I was 15 years old at that time).

I'm a Tolkien fan, so "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" by Blind Guardian.

Nice I listened to that a lot when I was first getting into metal. But for my money, I knew I was hooked when I some how acquired a Mercyful Fate "Greatest Hits" album. Its been all satan and bloodshed since then.

Everything he doesn't like is metalcore. Britney Spears, Elton John, Michael Moore, and green beans are also metalcore, in case you guys didn't know.

Ha, well, this may sound very odd, because i'm only 16. The very first metal album I listned to was when my Dad gave me "Number Of The Beast" by Iron Maiden, i've loved them ever since and this genre. That was back when I was 10. Good times I saw, good times.

The first metal album I heard was "...And Justice For All" by Metallica, I remember being awstruck. I hadn't ever really liked music before and I fell in love with metal instantly

I was 16 when I bought Nightwish's "best of" album, titled "Highest Hopes". I thought it was pretty awesome, even though it was mostly just commercial singles that didn't do much in demonstrating the true skills of this amazing band. After that I started listening to a lot of symphonic metal, then death, black, power, prog and thrash. Nightwish remains my favorite band to this day, because that "best of" album I bought all those years ago is really a "worst of" album (with a few exceptions such as Dead Boy's Poem).

I listened to a lot of emo/pop-rock stuff. I Wanted heavier music, so I turned on headbanger's ball. The first video that came on was Cry of the Blackbirds by Amon Amarth. The rest was history. That happened 4 years ago and Amon Amarth is now my favorite band and metal is probably the biggest part of my life.

Metallica's Black Album. But I didn't get into metal right away. When I was a kid it was the only "metal" band I used to listen (and maybe Pantera). Only a few years later I entered the metal world with Nightwish, early Metallica and maybe Stratovarius.

"Transform" by Powerman 5000. Probably more hard rock, alternative metal at best, but it had elements that turned me on to metal as a whole.

Chimaira - The Impossibility of Reason. They were the first band I listened to that I'd call metal (as oppose to grunge or nu-metal) Heard Pure Hatred on a kerrang cd and I suddenly "got" aggressive music, was lost after that lol. First genre specific band I fell for was Cult of Luna, heard Leave Me Here on a Metal Hammer CD and fell in love. It's still my top CoL song.

I was a huge wrestling fan when I was a little kid, so as funny as it may be, it was the ECW soundtrack. A couple of the ECW wrestlers had entrance music by the likes of Metallica and Pantera, and I was hooked. The rest they say, is history.

I seem to remember my dad playing me Judas Priest's "Stained Class" and Metallica's "Master of Puppets" when I was around 8 or 9 years old. However, I didn't really start getting into metal (or music in general) until I was about 14, so the album that really started the ball rolling was probably Iron Maiden's "Piece of Mind." My dad played it in the car one time and I remember thinking that "Where Eagles Dare" was the heaviest thing I had ever heard.

I wasn't hard into music til, oh, two years back. all i listened to was foo fighters, 3 doors down, and styx. Then I heard Stricken by Disturbed, and it turned me onto harder rock. Then: Judas Priest. Decided I wanted to like metal. No specific album.

In retrospect... After trying metalcore like Atreyu and All That Remains, I did some research and found viking metal. Borrowed Ensiferum's Victory Songs from a friend in Sept of '09, still haven't returned it... I was hooked into metal forever.

I found lots of people who are interested in metal were influenceed by their living environment.
That is cool! ScreamingSteelUS said his dad played Metallica when he was young!!

The first metal song I heard was Paradise, Stratovarius because this song was popular among my schoolmates in the senior high school.
Later, I found Angra accidentally on Youtube.

Power Metal is the first metal style that I first got in the world of metal.

Stratovarius, Vision of Europe
