I'm just curious to know which 90s metallica is dearest to you. in my opinion, Load is the last great album that Metallica did. Although the speed & thrash days are gone, Load is still a really good rock album, with good musicianship and good lyrics. After this, "their ship began to sink". Reload is half good, half uninspired. Garage Inc. is another covers album which many Metallica fans did not need. S & M is a good live album. IMO, the album is not spectacular but just musically correct.

Feel free to contradict me, I was subjective after all I'm looking forward to your opinions.

I'm not going to give any explanations. I like every Metallica album. I'm a true Metallica fan. So, everything is good for me.

because the cd tells you its Metallica? or because you practically like any crap like this?

I don't really care if Metallica plays good music or just a lot of crap. I started to listen to metal with Metallica albums. I love every single song of them. I know they have become a very popular and commercial band, but I feel hapy when I support their music (from Metal Up Your Ass to St. Anger). Maybe millions of people can be against my opinion about my love for Metallica, but I like it a lot. I respect your ideas and opinions about this topic, but I repeat it: I'll love Metallica 'till death. If you're disagree with me, I understand your position but I'll support them forever.

Black album of course.
Overall i think the 90s are the worst period for Metallica.
The 80s are much better and the 2000s has St. Anger that is a very underrated album.

Load, there's no doubt about it. Great Rock Album, but not a metal album.

Totally support Terror stricken's position... I have absolutely the same views on Metallica's works. And I started listening to metal due to them.

Although it's my favorite show, I think S&M shouldn't be on the list since it's a live album.

i've voted for Garage inc. ; im not a Metallica fan, because i've never liked their music, but the fact is that they've choose nice songs to cover, although they were not successful to do the covers great..

I'll be a real fucking rebel and tell you all who thinks Metallica died after 1988 are morons. Just because a band changes their style doesn't mean they cease to be a band. In all honesty, Load is my favorite Metallica album. Sure they were no longer a Thrash Metal band, and that is fine. At least they haven't put the same boring album out over and over like Slayer has.

Huh? Sure all of Slayer's albums are thrash, but they all sound different from one another, and it's a pretty big difference too. Load is just a bad attempt at creating radio-friendly music, something that Slayer would never do. Well, unless you count the fact that Hot Topic released a Slayer single in 2006....

Every Slayer album sounds the same to me. Their sound has barely changed at all in years. Very boring.

As for Load being radio friendly, some of it was, while some of it wasn't. Sure "Hero of the Day" and "King Nothing" are great radio songs tracks like "Outlaw Torn" and "Thorn Within" could not be played on the radio.

Besides, what is wrong with having radio play? If "Enter Sandman" was never a hit on the radio I would bet that at least a third of the people on this sight wouldn't know Metal as well as they do. That song blew up on the radio and got people interested in a style of music they probably would have skipped over. I know I am a prime example of that.

In all honesty, I am not that crazy about Metallica's Thrash Metal. I find it a tad boring at times. It is actually their more chilled out music that I really love. "Hero of the Day", "Mama Said", "Nothing Else Matters", "No Leaf Clover", plus their covers of "Tuesday's Gone", "Turn The Page" and even "Remember Tomorrow" are the songs I really enjoy.

I'm sure Hanneman could write a rock album and make money, but I doubt Slayer would ever do that. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd prefer a band to stick to their genre and create albums with at least a hint of musical integrity than sell out.

Why can't a band like Metallica experiment with other sounds? Not only are they one of the best Thrash Metal bands ever, they are also an amazing Alt. Country Rock band. I don't hear people complaining when bands like Dream Theater or Opeth try new sounds in their music, so why complain when James Hetfield and the Metallicas want to try something new? You may not like the new material, and that is fine, but people don't need to freak out and disown the band when something comes out they don't like.

I more or less despise them all and would never put on any of them volountarily, but I guess if I have to compare them the Black Album would be the least crap. Sure as hell doesn't mean it's any good though, it's just less crappy than the others, and even then not by much (except in the case of Reload, which is so bad it makes the Black Album seem near godly).

Actually I don't think so. This one and - Human are kinda exclusive in this way. I think hearing them without the symphony would be weird (although it's possible on the DVD by removing the symphony track).
