california is obviously the big one, with heaps of great thrash bands, the biggest three being slayer, metallica and megadeth...

I know it but do you know some band from Alaska and Hawai Ilands? some good band beause I never had hear metal from those states and seems thay aer out of NA tour too

Alaska I look at MA there are 10 bands and I think I gonna like Crillson, Norman K. Anderson, Pandemonium (3 albus are at vibrationsofdoom) and Snow White(ep in vibofdoom )

there was 4 BM bands what i gonna try in myspace 8 bands from 10 not good not good and 4 are from 80ties

Hawaii - Vixen I know tham but dont know where to find, only band I had hera are thgat female band
MA says there are 9 bands

Aaronsrod(album in vibofdoom), Hawaii(3 albums at vibofdoom) Magnum Carnage quate good detah/black
Sacred Rite(intresting abnd from 80ties)

it's a battle between new york, florida and california imo, but california wins with 3 of the big 4 of thrash, though florida has iced earth and death..

California for Slayer (maybe my favourite band), Metallica (for the great impact they've had on me) and Megadeth for the years '86-'94!

imo it's Florida with Atheist, Death, Cynic, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Nocturnus, Deicide etc.

Florida for Death Metal, California For Thrash.

Ten years ago I would say Florida; Death, Cynic, Atheist, Iced Earth, Savatage... Creed. I'm going to have to go with California overall, even though the Golden State brought us some cheesy glam metal, their thrash made up for it. Slayer. Megadeth. Metallica. Also I like the avantgarde from that area: Faith No More, Tool, Fantômas. Also, Armored Saint, Fear Factory, High On Fire, Neurosis, Psychotic Waltz, Racer X, Rage Against The Machine, Testament, W.A.S.P.

I wonder what the worst states for metal would be? Probably somewhere around where I live, I hate living in the Northeast.

This is about USA but from Canada only near border whit USA and french talking part

Florida

California for sure and by far. Other decent states are New York, Florida and Washington. Seems like the four corners are the place to be.

I'm biased since I live in California so I'm just going to vote for that. There are some great local bands in my area as well (Xanthochroid, Exhausted Prayer, and Through These Gates are some good extreme bands).

You have to ask that?!? Sludge came out of Lousiana and the biggest sludge band ever comes from Georgia (Mastodon).

Georgia:

Mastodon
Black Tusk
Baroness

Also non-sludge: Nashville Pussy, Sevendust, Fozzy, Stuck Mojo

Louisiana

Acid Bath
Down (and arguably anything involving Phil Anselmo)
Crowbar
Eyehategod
Soilent Green

Non-sludge: Goatwhore, Exhorder, Iwrestledabearonce, Opprobrium (original Incubus)

Georgia sludge are OK, I don't like rest in the list

You can add Royal Thunder and Kylesa to Georgia.

Eh, I'd probably go with California for alternative metal bands like Tool, System of a Down, Faith No More, and Deftones.

Also Metal Church. They did start in San Francisco but everything they recorded was done when the band was already living in Washington state.

Compare, more or less, in that sense to Metallica who started in LA but gained recognition when they had already mocved to SF.
