I always wanted to know what the MetalStorm community does with their music. Do you guys go out and buy albums or just download them off of filesharing programs? Why/why not? Personally, I like to buy the albums myself because I like having the artist actually make the money they deserve, but another reason is that I like physically having things. Like when I want to read about something, I don't like using the internet. I need to be holding a book about in in my hands for me to be interested.

Limewire/Frostwire are purely for pedo-porn in my experience: virus ridden software. I rely on good old mediafire/megaupload/rapidshare for illegal downloads. If it's really obscure then Soulseek is the way to go. If it's not on that then I give up or buy the music in question, which I usually do if it's not metal based, like stuff from Cold Spring Records etc. because they're quick and reliable and everything they sign tends to be ace.

Both. Downloads is to check whether the album is something I like or not. Some may argue there's myspace, but I like listening an album from head to toe before final judgement. When I have money, I buy albums which I auditioned already via illegal means and approved of. There's no point in buying albums that you don't like imo and even though I have favourite artists, they all release albums that can be rubbish or with pretty average material. Hence a download is essential. Limewire/Frostwire is usually for really mainstream stuff and hard to find complete albums.

I can't begin to recount how many times I've downloaded something to find it's just random porn. Torrenting and the instant download sites have rendered Limewire archaic and irrelevent, except for the previous mentioned pedo/animal porn which has basically become its primary business. I shudder at the idea of installing Limewire these days, just feels like an FBI trap. Or the English equivalent.

Uh.. This is some gooood question from some point of view. As far i am afraid several people who work in the music industry say no to piracy but well, piracy makes them more popular even. So they don't really fight it. There comes the p2p programs, wich allow the users to make a _non_massive_piracy_ . So its really up to the people to support the artists they like... and let's face it.. in _metal_ several times you will listen to _GREAT_ music that you won't even find on regular metal stores ( i.e. demos, bootlegs etc etc).

I don't like the P2P software. Type in Desolation of Eden and get Desolation of two nun sluts fucking a bycicle. Believe me i've done it. But if you want to check out music those of us in select countries use Spotify.

For me, it goes like this: If I like a couple songs from a certain band but they're all on different albums (Like Cremation and Welcome Home by King Diamond), I download them. It saves money. I also download them if I don't plan to buy their albums. But if most or all on the same album, (Like Detroit Rock City and God of Thunder by KISS) then I buy it. But I like to collect CDs, so I mostly end up buying them. Leave the downloading to the Pop music fans.

I like to buy CDs, to listen the music of course and for collection purposes.

24.07.2010 - 19:37 Written by Hellish Star on 22.07.2010 at 12:44 What happens when a friend or the internet made you listen a _great_ band and when you go to the stores near you... you don't find any band but the generic ones? It's almost impossible to find up some good bands on all stores around the globe. I guess p2p programs also have contributed making some bands popular.

I always buy my albums. If a band is making music that is worth listening to, than the least I can do is buy the album.
