It can't be more awful than this, where is the metal? Their worst.

Oh, it can be A LOT more awful than that! Compared to most of the albums that came after this one, it's a classic! "Dedicated To Chaos" is a far worse album than this one is. HITNF isn't classic Queensryche by any means, but there's a few good songs on it definitely.

To think that this band would only get WORSE from this point on... *sigh

Ordinary men hate solitude. But the Master makes use of it, embracing his aloneness, realizing he is one with the whole universe (Lao Tzu).

Not only does it suck and it's also too long. This album had Degarmo on it so I guess not even he could change the direction the band (or better to say Geoff Tate) wanted to take. As far as I've read on several articles, it's Geoff who wanted to keep up with current trends back then and Michael Wilton was always trying to put that metal touch in. I'm not sure what's true but what I'm sure about is that this album is where this band starts to suck pretty. While Promised Land was the last decent effort, upcoming albums had a few decent moments but that's all.

I like this album, all the albums after that, except Tribe, are much worse IMO.

Well, I gave it a try. Most songs on this are mainly just boring and repetitive, sounds like they tried to appel to mainstream radio audience and ended up simplifying their music to the point you can hardly tell if it's just one song playing. I think Spool might be the only interesting song with that cool bass part, You was half-decent and some of the songs had great sounding guitar melodies, but that's pretty much it. There's hardly anything interesting here. Maybe if they had taken different route and mixed their progressive rock style with crunchier grunge or groove instead of half baked alt rock, that would've been something else.

You've got a lot of guts. Let's see what they look like!
