Well...hard to say actually.I've seen a lot of shows,and yeah Children Of Bodom are perfect live...BUT seeing the guys from Apocalyptica headbang all the while without stopping while flawlessly playing the cello...hitting every note.Well-that's just amazing.

Gwar are insane to see live, not for their music but for their stage show. Last time I saw them they brought a Paris Hilton doll onstage, had sex with it then cut its head of. For every song their was a different gimmick. Wether it was a giant worm that shoots blood or bringing a fake body on stage and doing sick stuff to it. The only problem was I was like 20 feet from the stage and got my Slayer shirt just covered in bloodand gore. But the show was fucked up

You all must see Dead Shape Figure live! I mean the other singer is just a crazy jumper! One blink and he is in the other side of the room. When I saw them, he climbed on the top of a thin wall that was very little but high, and jumped of it! And the whole band just played in the crowd and singers came growling so close to your face that you could actually french-kiss them.

slayer are the best, i have seen them 9 times, and they always seem to blow me away! other bands would be decapitated, deicide, dew scented, vader, skinless, kreator, fear factory,immolation.

Man, I still say maiden in their earlier days.
They never failed to sound exactly as they did on record and had some hellsa stage performance.

But I have seen Bodom Live and they do kick ass, they Keep an undeniable control over the audience, and Alexi Pointed right at me in between one of their songs, it felt like an eternity. So i'd say their # 2 on my list.

Emperor, the show at Wacken was just awesome! Great sound, great pyro technics and ofcourse Ihsahn , trym and Samoth fuck man is it even possible to get close to the quality theese guys radiate? Emperor is the best.

I agree with Amon Amarth and Cryptopsy. Skinless are actually playing in my town tomorrow, practically a couple of roads away but I need to save my cash for bigger and better gigs. Bleh!

Skinless is great live if you change your mind... tsunami wall of death is intense man.. they do it basically every show

I've seen them both over 15 times on stege

Im agree with some people with Iron Maiden the always make a out of serie show with eddie and all the stuff on stage......CoB are awesome on stege for shure but i keep with the sound in the Live album last gig was cool....anyway i keep with Sodom and Kreator....wow !! what a discharge on stage ! and the sound it's so clean and powerful.....but a lot of bands....i mean all the bands are good live cuz if they wouldnt nobody heard them

I would have to say either Dimmu Borgir or Meshuggah. More heading towards the line of Meshuggah.

Children Of Bodom are great live and they are creative in their liveshows. Like the cool duels between warman and alexi and stuffs in songs inside another song. like the conceert i saw they started att Bodom After Midnight and in the middle they played Bodom Beach Terror and then finished off Bodom After Midnight. And when they have really cool effects on stage. You will see on the new CoB DVD. And they do great choices in picking the songs for a concert. At this concert Janne had his keyboard pointed down so you could see what he was playing and as an amateur keyboardist it was really cool to see how he was playing. And i can't stop mentioning that i almost got that grilled sausage Alexi was throwing out. I was really close. Hope i can see myself on the DVD

Tool are just mind-blowing live, such an amazing, intense ambience they create.....

Ive barely seen any bands live, but Dismember is really good live though...

Totally ICED FUCKING EARTH their album Alive In Athens is a show of talent they didnt make not a single mistake in all the album

and Also Iron Maiden they also are a really talented live performers..........

Well I haven't seen so much bands live but among the ones I've seen, I really enjoyed Warcry, actually they didn't make a mega-show but they sounded fucking good and that's very important... I saw Blind Guardian last night and ye the show was good but the sound wasn't that amazing... Hansi was tired of smthing I think

I got Children of Bodom's "Stockholm Knockout Live" today and the concert was just as good as I remembered it to be and makes me more sure that Children of Bodom is the best live band!

Slayer of Iron Maiden. Kick ass stuff. Slayer is brutal on stage and has cool backgrounds and props. Iron Maiden just takes it to the extreme.

I'll have to say Children Of Bodom, because their shows are perfect..the crowd has always been amasing and the band always makes one feel so at home. And they have a funny show too! And at every bodom show I've been to, they've always done the show in a different way and they always do something funny. At this one show they brought koskenkorva (an alkohol drink) in small glases by waiters to the crowd, even though I didn't get anything. And on an other show they thew sausages at the crowd and janne grilled one on a scythe..What can I say, I just love them live!

I'd vote for Frank Zappa. Brilliant musicians, even more brilliant humor and audience interaction. Oh, he isn't metal. Dream Theater then. They always make me gape all the time. I can't believe how easy they make it seem. I agree with Warman. Iron Maiden are a good live act, but I think we've all heard "Scream for me....(fill in the blank)" one too many times...

the best live performances i have seen live are - Helloween, Axel Rudi Pell, Primal Fear and Emperor!!!
i loved all of them so so much!!! i cannot possibly pick just one to be my favorite
Helloween was just amazing because they are probably my favorite band. Axel Rudi Pell are just magic live. and Emperor was just amazing! - theres no other way of putting it!

Superjoint Ritual. Anything goes when they take stage. Too bad they're done with. They brought a sense of original hardcore punk values to the metal stage. Go get thier "live at CBGB's" DVD. It gets rediculously out of controll.

DRAGONFORCE! Definately. I flew to Cardiff so I could see them. They were so good I got arrested, but that's a completely unrelated story involving sex and drugs and guitars. Anyway, suffice to say, the Cardiff Student Union building is an amazing place to see any band play, especially when they rock.

I think the best live band is Children of Bodom they keep the crowd so involved in their shows. Plus they just sound so good live. Also I like the COB shows because its always fun to watch them initiate someone into COBHC(Children of Bodom Hate Crew) their fanclub. The only way they will let you in is if you stand on your head while they pour alcahol into your mouth and if it comes out your nose you can get in. Plus their shows are always hilarious. @ maireal i was at that show where JANNE cooked the sausage on a scythe also JANNE cooked one on his keyboard(it had a grill type thing under it).
