- Iron Maiden and Bullet For My Valentine. (2006)
Seriously, Trendy metalcore kids don't mix the salty old NWOBHM crowd, that's an assbeating waiting to happen.
- Metallica, Mudvayne, Deftones, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit (yes, Limp Bizkit) (2003)
Proof positive metallica sold out.
-Dragonforce at Ozzfest (2006)
They seriously don't fit in with Black Label Society, Strapping Young Lad, and System of a Down.
Any to contribute?

Over the summer, i went to the Strhess tour, which was Shadows Fall, It Dies Today, Still Remains, Poison the Well, and......................Suffocation. The order of playing was Still Remains, Suffocation, It Dies Today, Poison the Well, Shadows Fall After Still Remains (who sucked), more than half of the crowd cleared out, not to mention i heard about a million scattered comments like "Who's Suffocation?" coming from all different areas. Of course after Suffo was done doing their slaying, everyone came back in to see It Dies Today. I basically sat outside for every band aside from Suffo and SF. What really bothered me about it was that Suffocation (the fathers of Death Metal) were opening for trendy metalcore bands like It Dies Today and Poison the Well as well as a relatively newer band like Shadows Fall. Something about that just doesn't seem right.

This thread just shows how narrowminded most metalheads are nowadays. There is totally nothing wrong in combining two totally different bands, that way poeple get a chance to hear bands they usually wouldn't have heard at all. In the eighties, early nineties it was very common to have totally different bands sharing the same bill on a tour. Remember for instance Alice In Chains on the bill for Clash of the Titans on the US leg of the tour, or Stryper AND testament on the same bill at the thrid dynamo open air? etc. etc.

It's not that the bands are too different, it's that there are some really bad bands who go on tour with some of the greatest bands of all time, and people don't want that...

Any hardcore bands shouldn't tour with Metal bands. Most metalheads (like myself) don't want to see hardcore bands when we attend a METAL show. The hardcore band always gets booed...and places sometimes get packed with pit ninjas. It's always us against them and sometimes fights brakeout...

If you don't like the shitty new bands that are opening up for an older band or what have you, simply show up late because what you're paying money for is the headliner. Ozzfest is kind of bad about mixing their acts, but that is also the point, to get new bands exposure to a vast crowd and a variety ot tastes. Who would have thought Slayer, Puya, Primus, and Drain STH should be on the same bill? Yeah Primus is legendary in their own right but musically it doesn't mix with any of the others, and what kind of old Slayer fan would like Puya.. and well Drain STH is more hard rock/grunge than anything, not that they're bad or anything as they have a few decent tracks. BTW, this was part of the line up for Ozzfest '99.

This thread show that metalheads really are stupid (well most of you).Ok maybe I should have said full of stereotypes. Saying hardcore bands shouldn't be put with metal bands or I sat outside except for the bands that I liked. You are acting exactly how a metalhead shouldn't. Most of you aren't open minded. I don't like many bands that I see/listen, but without hearing them how can I say that I like them or not (1), I've been at concerts where the bands there had nothing with each other except they shared the stage(2): - Metallica, Monster Magnet & Antract (Romanian band); - Nevermore, Annihilator, Soilwork, Rawhead Rexx; - W.A.S.P., Catamenia, another black metal band, Crematory They don't really mix as being from the same genre, but does it matter? You probably won't see them soon & probably you are going 2 see some band, then just go see that band and stop bitching.

10.01.2007 - 09:59 Written by [user id=2267] on 08.01.2007 at 14:00 I agree with part of what you have said here. I really don't care much for which bands support other bands. As long as I get to see the headlining band that I came to see in the first place, I'm happy. And the supports are always great for hearing new music, so it usually doesn't matter who the supports are to me. Although, I don't see a problem with sitting out on one of the support bands. Now, with every support band that I have not heard, I'll usually stick around to hear them and if I like them, I'll listen to their whole set. However, if I don't like them, I'll usually go grab a drink and some fresh air. I don't see a problem with it. If I don't like a band, I'd rather move to the back, go grab a drink and relax while there's no huge lines at the merch stands or bars. There have been a number of shows that I've sat outside for the supports because quite frankly I didn't like them.

@Venom_BM - Ah yes, might have been just a slight misunderstanding then. It is very annoying how so many people complain about it. I mean, if you don't like the band that's supporting, go outside, grab a drink, just waste some time until the headlining or next band start playing.

I saw them in Sheffield and it was one of the best gigs I've been to Like some have said, this is a pretty stupid topic. Who cares if the support act does not play the same kind of metal as the headliner? Except for metalcore that is, then it starts to matter as it attracts twatty metalcore kids, toher than that I don't care. Hardcore band Born From Pain supported Napalm Death, and I thought they were really good, and I'm not too big on hardcore

When I saw Emperor in London, they had She Said Destroy and To-Mera as their support bands. She Said Destroy were good, but To-Mera? We were all there to hear some Black Metal, some aggressive majesty, some EMPEROR, and they had this watered-down Prog Metal act to warm-up. I'm sure I would have appreciated their set if they were with the right sort of band, but with Emperor? No way!

Grave Digger and Therion is comlete stupidity, I hate Therion and now I have to pay double to watchGrave Digger, I know many people who thinks like me, some f them likes Therion and don't like Grave Digger and in reverse, some of them don't want to pay ticket to watch band they don't like, also fans of GD and Therion are different, pretty and sofisticated goth guys and girls and smelly, drunken Heavy Metal freaks, it will be interested to see that combination on one place.

I really see many points in this topic. True, many metalheads cant stand the Emo bands that sometimes open, myself included. But really, I mean, it isnt all that bad to put up with some shit for like MAYBE an hour. It just makes the headliners or better bands sound even better. And for the Emo kids, maybe they'll see how much money their wasting on the emo bands, and listen to some real talent. =]

Blind Guardian and Leaves' Eyes. Man, Leaves' Eyes hated Blind Guardian (and Blind Guardian took up all the airplane space too which forced Leaves' Eyes to use a smaller and electric drumset). But, the main problem with this is that the power metal kids were fighting with the gothic metal kids. And, most people who like power metal don't like gothic metal ESPECIALLY when they do growls and, of course, that's what Alexander Krull did which made the power metal fans pissed. So, you go there to see Leaves' Eyes and the little power metal kids ruin it because they're all like "Blind Guardian NOW!". Sad...so, sad.

I have paid over 60 Euro to see Iron Maiden last year, but every cent for Trivium was just an ENTIRE waste of money. Next time I'm going to think more than twice if I watch such a concert again. If I go watch my favourite band I don't another sucky band ruining half of the show. Open minded does not give me my time and money back. Think what you want.

@Iron Markus: you've got me wrong dude. What I meant is that if u don't know the band go and listen to them in the concert maybe you'll like them, if you don't like them that's it. If you only want to see you favorite from those bands just go see them and stay out, but stop bitching that X band shouldn't be there. It's your choice what you like, but maybe those are good bands for other people. What I don't understand is why you are pissed of on Trivium when u actually payed for Maiden. If you would have payed like me last night for Napalm Death & left after 4 songs because it sucked than I would have agreed with you.
