I'm excited to see what you all think about the game. So who is wasting their money on the xbox version?

Australia got the game early, so I got this yesterday. It is much much much much better than oblivion. Just joined the dark brotherhood. This game is amazing, Ive already sunk 21 hours into it.

I'm surprised how little they've advanced the graphics over Oblivion, at least from a technical perspective, the difference between medium and ultra settings is nominal. I don't care though, the game looks great and far more stylish than Oblivion and mods will take care of that for those who are bothered by the low texture quality.

Naturally this is to be expected considering it's a 5gig install. The graphical difference between Morrowind and Oblivion is obviously far greater than Oblivion and Skyrim.

Whats the cheapest house in the game? I need somewhere to store my stuff. I think theres one in Riften ( seems like the poorest area, its where the thieves guild is) or somewhere, but i dont know how to buy it.

Account deleted Written by [user id=113163] on 12.11.2011 at 01:17 Nope, it's a common issue with people: http://www.gamefront.com/pc-gamers-complaining-about-skyrims-textures-ui-mouse-keyboard-support and http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615805-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/60950820 If you've played the likes of BF3, Metro 2033 or especially Witcher 2 or pretty much anything in recent times you can see that Skyrim's textures are clearly rather dated, and as I said it would be impossible to get higher res textures on a 5gig download. I'm fine with them though, they're more than functional, but the fact it's a 360 port shows in regards to this.

12.11.2011 - 04:42 Written by [user id=4365] on 11.11.2011 at 11:45 The console version looks like the highest setting of oblivion on pc. The biggest difference is character models. They still aren't perfect, but theyre much much better. And thank fuck for the removal of psychic guards!!!!!!

12.11.2011 - 11:14 Written by tea[m]ster on 12.11.2011 at 06:03 Well sorry. Consoles are a much more profitible market, and despite what you may or may not believe, the gaming industry is exactly that, an industry. They need to cater to the masses because games cost so much to make. It's unfortunate but true. And wtf are you talking about, dumbed down? Everythings as dumb as it ever was, since oblivion and fallout 3 and everything. The graphics and sounds are still much better on pc than consoles, and it runs much faster. So stop complaining, enjoy the game and get a fucking life.

Account deleted Written by whatsacow on 12.11.2011 at 11:14 I'm more than happy with the super quick loading times and attention to style and vastness. So what that there's little difference between medium and ultra (hell, even low looks decent), just means more people can enjoy it. You can tell that models are better because the women actually look hot And it isn't the same engine as Fallout 3, it's based on the Gamebryo engine, it but it's considered a new engine.

Account deleted Written by whatsacow on 12.11.2011 at 11:42 That's a shame, for the PC from double clicking on the Skyrim icon you're playing the game within seconds. And as for general loading I don't know why they bothered putting the advice text because there's never enough time to read it.

My first big complaint, and it's a big one as I made I'm going for a stealth character, is the retarded stealth system. Whilst sneaking you can be heard from quite a distance, even out in the open, yet if you keep still when you enemies come looking for you they can walk right past you and not see you (unless they actually make contact with you). The only way to sneak effectively without acquiring skills to move ridiculously slowly which is a total pain. Definitely a step down from how it was in Oblivion. Being stealthy just isn't that fun in this one. Yet bizarrely you can pickpocket someone when about 10 different people are looking directly at you. To be honest the whole game is feeling like Oblivion part 2. It's fixed most of the issues of Oblivion along with a relatively minor graphical update but it's also got its own set of annoyances and realism-shattering issues too, perhaps most notable the exploitability of the skills system, you can level your stealth to the max in a couple of hours just by finding some sleeping guitars and walking around near them. The absurdly easy pickpocketing allows you to level that at lightening speed too. The looting system is rather broken too with often poor item placement. Breaking a bunch of lockpicks to get into a Master chest to find a handful of gold and a steel knife is not particularly satisfying. Basically gameplay wise this is no real step up from Oblivion (combat included, it's more or less the same aside from the dual-casting), and thus at this point it's feeling like a massive expansion pack or something rather than a new game. It's just another world to explore with some more missions to do but fundamentally it's all the same as before. Of course I haven't even attempted the main quest yet so perhaps fighting a dragon or three might spruce things up. I do like how they included one of the Morrowind themes though. Kinda makes me wish I was back playing in Vvardenfell...

13.11.2011 - 02:47 Written by [user id=4365] on 13.11.2011 at 00:13 Yeah, sneaking is shit. I do think they've gotten much better with their quests though. They're much more interesting and varied than they were in Oblivion. And I dont care about the loot placement. I pick locks just to get my level up.

Account deleted Written by whatsacow on 13.11.2011 at 02:47 But it'd be nice to find some decent stuff. I pine for the days of Morrowind when you could find the strongest stuff even while you were level 1, not be put on a leash and have decent stuff gradually trickled to you when you reach the appropriate levels. Guess I could spend a bit more time enchanting stuff.
