A 15 minute drum solo that is faster and more technical than any other drummer in the world. He could wipe the floor with lombardo, bostaph, or anyone else your thinking of. Hands down Neil Peart is the fastest

I do absolutely agree with this statement. But there is one
expression I cannot agree with Neil is the fastest drummer
for sure, but he is not easily the best in the world, because
this is Thomas Lang from Austria or Mike Portnoy to my mind

The drummer form Behemoth, or Kevin Talley (ex-dying Fetus). THey are both amazing its hard to deicde.

For my opinion Hellhammer is the fastest. But I don't really know these stuffs, 'cause you can replace speed by creativity for ex, so I haven't really been searching fast drummers.

Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel is fast as hell! Go to the Morbid Angel Myspace and listen to the drum check, it's amazing.

I should've mentioned Mike Smith of Suffocation way earlier,well some one else should've as well.I am not saying he's not technical at all,but most of his drumming is typical death metal drum work,he just plays it twice as fast.Most people will surely agree if they listen to Suffocation.

Gene Hoglan, hands down. The man is a monster. If he's not the fastest (I doubt it), then he's obvously the best. SELF TAUGHT! Those massive bass drums stunts he pulls in SYL...

Also, he's a funny guy.

I would say that fastest drummer is Gary from The Berzerker. He's not the best drummer in my opinion, but he's most probably one of the fastest. He's no longer in The Berzerker though.

There are a lot of guys I would mention but I think I'll go with Roy Mayorga (ex-Soulfly, Stonesour). When I saw him live during a Sepultura concert he shocked me and the whole audience, he was fast as hell!

I must mention Erik "AiwarikiaR" Lancelot who was drumming on "Nattens Madrigal". This album is a perfect example for fast, Black Metal drumming. I also like Fenriz drumming on "Transilvanian Hunger". Maybe they are not the fastest, but they shows great technical skills (in Black Metal style) and musical talents.

In terms of Power Metal, the dude from DragonForce take the cake most definately

But there are Death metal drummers who exceed that sort of speed......I'd go with Pete from Morbid Angel......

I do not remember who was drumming on Immortal albums: "Pure Holocaust" and "Battles In The North" but it was really fast beating (and in Black Metal style).
And of course Hellhammer is brilliant drummer with great technical skills... but this is rather obvious.

Frost is fast, maybe not the fastest but especially on Nemesis Divina and Rebel Extravanagza he has some furious blast parts.

Pure Holocaust and battles in the north drumms were made by abbath himself, in pure holocaust eric comes in the cover but he did not participate in the studio recording.

Matte Modin from Dark Funeral. Fast double bass as well as snares.
He sounds wild in "Attera totus sanctus".

Agreed. The matter of who is 'The fastest drummer' is not up for debate, and cannot be held by more than one person; it's not a matter of opinion, it's like asking 'Which vocalist has the highest pitch'. By my reckoning (and according to the World's Fastest Drummer website), Mike Mangini has proven himself worthy of the title 'World's Fastest Drummer'. Whether Dave Lombardo or Inferno or Dave Mackintosh can drum faster is moot-unless someone counts the number of beats they can hit in a set time, Mike Mangini is the winner.

Yet another example of 1) a badly-worded question in a poll and 2) lots of MS users who don't read the question.

If you're going for the fastest I would have to say drummer from Panzerchrist or The Berzerker. But I can't believe the topic of "best" has come up and no one has said Tomas Haake!
