For me the problem with "Reload" when it went out is that was more of the same that "Load", same thing again, it was for me a disappointment.

What we called heavy metal back then was really hard rock...but the very first one (with that in mind) was Scorpions "Love At First Sting." If that doesn't count for metal, it would have been Iron Maiden's "Powerslave." Wow...now that I think about it, I haven't been listening to metal for 25 years...it's more like 27 years...damn I'm getting old.

I didn't listen to metal as albums when I was first getting into it. I was just one of those n00bs that listened to bands with individual songs.

My memory is kind of bad since I listened to my very first metal albums back when I was like 7 years old. I would say Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory and Mägo De Oz - Folktergeist (I still think is a good live cd)

The first metal album I heard was Metallica's "Kill 'em All", but the album that got me into metal was a combination of Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake" and Slipknot's "Vol. 3" back in eighth grade, after making the transition from stuff like Nelly and DMX to Disturbed and Godsmack.

Kinda hard to remember, it was more than 6 years ago. I think it was Rammstein's Rosenrot. Yeah, now I'm pretty sure it was. God, hearing songs like Zestoren or Benzin for the very first time was really a enlightening experience. After that, I asked my friend who gave me the CD if he had something similar. He gave me some Hammerfall's album, don't know which one was it. I was like: "Fuck, this is shit...". To this very day, I greatly dislike (even hate) Power Metal. After Rammstein came Iron Maiden (but they never held my interest for long), Korn and Slipknot. Shortly after that (so about half a year after Rosenrot) I got Gorgoroth's Pentagram and Cradle of Filth's Damnation and a Day. To this very day those two are among my most beloved albums.

Within Temptation's Silent Force was the first metal album I ever listened/liked but that was far from 'being into metal'. What really got me into metal was In Flames' Reroute to Remain (and frankly, despite being part of their crappy modern era, that is not a bad album at all). However, In the Nightside Eclipse by Emperor deserves a honorary mention as well for getting me into black metal (and as such possibly the most important of these three).

Scorpions - Savage Amusement I listened to the entire music cassette and I loved it, I was 11 or 12 years old. My favorite song was "Don't Stop At The Top".
