I'm glad this thread has appeared. I always pronuonced it as Ing-Vay. Which I guess was wrong. And it also helped me with the pronouciation of other names. Now, I've been pronouncing the Hecate of Hecate Enthroned as Heh-Kah-Teh. Is that correct? Also, I heard that with Dimmu Borgir, you roll the Rs. And the G is pronounced with a sort of a zh sound. So it would be Borrrr- zhearrrr. Or something like that.

I think you should pronounce it as Dimmoo Boregear.

It is easy because it has been here for about 1000 times already. In the old one too. So, the creator of this thread, next time put in your first post: 'Dimmu Borgir=Dimmoo Boregear'.
It would prevent another 100 questions..

Ephel Duath anyone?
I always assumed the "ph" made an "f" sound but I've never been quite sure if it's not pronounced "Epp-Hell".

Ee-fel Du-ath. Long e, 'du' a little bit like 'do'.

A band I'm 100% sure of that I always pronounce them wrong is Agalloch. The German 'ch' has a peculiar sound which doesn't exist in the English language, thus I don't think it is meant to be pronounced the way I always do. A-ga-lock as in ache? A-ga-lotch as in church? Does anyone know?

I would think it's pronounced with a lock sound but I'm not 100% sure.

I'd say A-ga-loch. With the 'ch' as in 'Scheveningen'. :
But well, the Germans are known for not being able to pronounce 'Scheveningen'.

I've been pronoucing it with the "ch" sounding like I'm clearing my throat. Best explanation I can think of how to describe the sound.
