Your Favorite Christian Metal Band?

But there are those bands which put their faith in Jesus Christ at the forefront of the their music, and those are the bands that I wanted to poll. I picked what I thought were the 8 most popular bands from this faith, but left the "other" option just in case there are other choices. This list just deals with regular Metal bands, and not the Metalcore scene, which is heavily populated with Christian bands. So please don't pick "other" if your choice is a Metalcore band.
So, please pick your favorite, and tell us a little bit as to why.
For me, I have to go with Living Sacrifice. While Stryper is will always hold a place in my heart, Living Sacrifice is still my pick. Their albums are all solid releases filled with some brutal music and powerful lyrics. Even since their break up they're still noted as being a huge force is the Christian music scene.

The term applies more to marketing than anything else. But for the purpose of this thread it was much easier to say "Christian Metal".

"your favorite Christian band" certainly rolls off the tongue a little easier than "your favorite band of any metal genre who happens to espouse Christian views", doesn't it? and as for adding an extra genre - who really cares? it's not like metal isn't littered dozens upon dozens of genres and subgenres as it is... the entire point of a subgenre is an attempt to pigeonhole an artist into a specific concept, so Christian Metal is no more absurd a genre to me than Black Metal, whose classification is based upon ideology rather than musical stylings. Sure, the jump from Believer to Stryper, stylistically, is a broader hop than from Darkthrone to Emperor... but ultimately none of the four of those bands sound anything like their subgenre partner or diametric opposites.

But these are many of the same people who say that Christians play "Life Metal" not "Death Metal". Can a band play a style of music that is that of "Black Metal" but have a Christian view? I sure do.

So no difference between the two. White Metal = Christian Metal. @Dane/Jed Life Metal is not the Christian version of Death Metal. Life Metal was actually a term first used by Euronymous of Mayhem referring to the US Death Metal bands who according to him had nothing to do with the original aesthetics of Death Metal, because those bands had become too cheerful in their dress sense, stage antics and overall outlook on death metal music.

Because some over religious fanatic who has lost sight of the teachings of Jesus Christ made an uneducated, immature, inane statement assessing that a specific style of music has been created by Satan you therefore conclude that there is no possible way for people who follow Jesus and love God to play thus said style of music? Then how would you respond to the fact that there are many, many Metal bands out there with Christian members?

Look at this site, people from all over the world, different ages, different beliefs - but we are all metalheads. does that mean all metal heads think the same? same holds true with Christians or any other group out there. I realize trying not to stereotype people/groups can be a difficult concept for some of our posters to wrap their heads around... but give it a shot.

And somehow I fail to see how Extol, Shadow Gallery, Saviour Machine, Demon Hunter and plenty of other bands are rip offs.

Im a guitarist for the youth band at a local church on Wedensday nights, and the band likes to play soft rock crap, but I play the songs with loud distortion and make it sound more metal, some people in the church dont like it because its evil or whatever, but the listeners love it.
