Helloween returned in 2003 with their tenth studio album "Rabbit Don't Come Easy". This was a somewhat complicated period for Helloween as Roland and Uli has just left to make their Masterplan project a full-time band, and so recruited former Freedom Call guitarist Sascha Gerstner and had originally replaced Uli with Mark Cross - but mononucleosis prevented him from continuing with the band and also had to leave.

This was actually one of my very first Helloween albums. I know it inside out, therefore I like it a lot.

Same as Baz here, plus it was one of my first metal albums in general. Think it's the only Helloween album that I can remember all of the song melodies from off the top of my head.

Guess I've got to eat my words.....I really like this album. Unlike most Helloween fans I'm not a big fan of the Dark Ride and am glad they returned to their lighter/happier roots on this one

The album cover is pretty bad, and the lyrics are a bit iffy at times, but musically, it's mostly awesome stuff. I also prefer this one to The Dark Ride, although I like that album too.

Having Mikkey Dee on drums just makes it sound even more great! It's a shame he couldn't permanently join the band after recording this album...

This album was very much underrated (probably due to the cover, a lot of people like to judge an album by the cover).
I don't compare this album to The Dark Ride as the later was overrated. Master of The Ring is a closer match with RDCE.

This album is out of print for almost 8 years. At the moment in the market, only the Argentina's label Icarus is printing it. Frankly, I dont really like this label, their production is not that good.

I do think "The Dark Ride" is a bit overrated, but for the most part, it is a very good album. I'd say RDCE is like a mixture of MOTR and TDR. And "Back Against The Wall" is actually heavier than most of the tracks on TDR.

I bought the album when it was released (I have the digipack with "pop-up rabbit" insert, and bonus track), though it does surprise me to hear the album is out of print... :\

When you listen this, you understand you have lost 10 years beging poser and listend drone, sludge and such weird bands, this is good kick ass music. This band is better now as in 80's each song is kick ass here

Uuuuuhhhhmm, I am just telling myself right now that you did not mean to say what I just read--or that you happened to make a serious typo somewhere in this sentence.

Nonsense.

So people that do not listen to your kind of music are posers? Is that it? I wish you stopped your "poser" & "true metal" nonsense, it's got old long ago.

As for Helloween being "better" now than the 80s, I giggled. It's one thing to say that you enjoy the 2000s Helloween more, but using a word like "better" is just wrong if I may say so. And 80s Helloween means The Keepers and Jericho... Both essential, important albums. Even groundbreaking.
(I hope you understand what I'm trying to say).

As for Rabbit...it's one of the weakest albums from Helloween. Uneven, a chore to listen to, a disappointment.

I'll admit, the first song is pretty kick ass. Maybe they should have repeated the same formula or play more Accept covers...

OK, I get it - it's Eastern, so let's talk about the rabbits.

Unfortunately, it was not the Easter Bunny but a Metal Hammer lottery donating me this CD back in that time. Spinned it once, didn't like it at all and stowed it in the 'I don't really need this' box.
Reading the recent reactions, I came back to it just today and couldn't remember a single note of any song. But the result is the same, I still think it simply isn't good.
Sure, tastes differ, but claiming this was any better than classic 80's Helloween is far beyond my understanding.

It just hurts when an excellent album is underrated. If it wasnt for Mr Torture and If I Could Fly, I might have said that its better than the Dark Ride. Maybe it actually is and the guitar solos are amazing.

It just hurts when an excellent album is overrated.

Uuhhm, well, yeeeah... overrating never is a favourable thing I guess but it would hurt me much more if an album I consider bad was overrated.

Edit:

Damn, I just corrected my sentence. Of course I mean underrated, because I consider this record as an excellent one but I feel it's not given justice maybe due to the line up change after Uli & Roland or comparison with Dark Ride or the name and cover. I had the same bias several years back before I heard it, due to the comments ratings and the album cover and name but, damn was I positively surprised. I recently revisit this album the most out of their discography.

Definitely hearing tons of Judas Priest influence in here, pleasantly surprised with this album thus far.

It was fun to listen to this album in high school, and it still is. In those times with Metallica St. Anger this one was very good.
First 6 tracks are better than the rest of the album, very nice melodies.

Fifth album in a row I consider to be great... that's not bad. While this one is the weakest of the bunch I still think it's a strong album. Not a single bad track here.
