I think I'm not the only one to believe that Death Angel never quite got the credit they deserve. And I don't even mean the commercial success of Megadeth or Anthrax, but at least the respect that metalheads show to the likes of Testament or Overkill. And I think that these Bay Area thrashers have the right to feel harmed by the metal community, as they have done everything to become a highly recognized metal band, including starting off with a phenomenal debut album.

Death Angel's best album was their debut, but changed their thrashy sound afterwards. This album would sound great if re-recorded. They should come back to their original sound & deffinitely bring out some more releases too.

Excellent debut from a underrated Bay Area thrash band. Thrashers, Voracious Souls and Kill as one just rule.

Ace album. Perhaps their best. The title track is brilliantly written and "Voracious souls" and "Thrashers" are two clear cut examples of how to do thrash the best way possible.

I think the only song I ever enjoyed off this album was the title track. DA is another example of a band whose later stuff shits over the older.

It's a nice and fun thrash album, but unfortunately there isn't anything really special here. Worth a listen every once in a while though.

well Act III was actually better, but that;s it.

And damn look at how young the guys were when they recorded The Ultra-Violence. Oldest member 17? And the drummer just 13.

Definitely one of the bay area classics. Band should've continued this way on the 2nd album IMO. The transition in their style was justifiable on "Act III", because the songs were actually impressively good and the album isn't overly long like "Frolic". This one I see as their best thrash album.

Thrashers

Good solid Thrash album to listen to once in a while, but I can only really appreciate it in small doses, it can become a wee bit tedious after a while, it's the vocalists screams which sounds like a girl that puts me off. There are some real classics on this album though, the title track in particular is phanomanal! The best instrumental song in thrash imo.

Great aggressive, adolescent thrash! The highlight is definitely the instrumental title track - what an absolute masterpiece of a song!
The rest of the songs aren't as epic, but they're overall enjoyable, Bay-Area thrash! (Voracious Souls is especially good )

That was exactly my initial view on this album.
Several years later I realized that all songs here are excellent, though title track and Voracious Souls still being my favourite ones.
Today the album ranks top 5-6 of my all-time favourite thrash albums.
