One of those early 90's albums that really pushed death further into the genius category. This band put so much brilliance into every song on this release, the structures are utterly unique, and they manage to shove a wad of crap into the faces of every critic who has ever said that death metal is more noise than music. The dual guitars are totally unconventional in their harmonizing, and the classical overtones make the songs sound eerie and fantastically brutal.

Found this band and this album via Scott Burns' work. Just now listening to the first track but I like what I hear. It's not anything totally mind blowing just yet, but obviously I'll check it out. There's something euphoric about early Death Metal, in any and every form.

I did not expect to find a creative genius album within death metal this far back in time that wasn't by the band Death, but here it is.

If I can't have 5000 perfect 10 albums, I will give no album above a 9.

I know this is an old comment but I'm sure by now you've also found out about Atheist's Piece Of Time & Unquestionable Presence, Nocturnus's The Key & Thresholds, Polluted Inheritance's Ecocide and Pestilence's Consuming Impulse & Testimony Of The Ancients. If not, check those out too for some early genius death metal.

Those are all mastercalss releases tbh.

I find it funny how every time I find a random really good osdm or death thrash album from the old days it's more likely than not produced or mixed by Scott Burns. That guy had his hands on everything. Also, that cover art by the one and only H.R. Giger kicks some ass, it's awesome.

Nothing mind-blowing, but it definitely has good production!
