While many would consider Moving Pictures to be the pinnacle album by Rush, I would have to say Hemispheres had more of an impact on me, and from what I understand the metal world too. It's certainly clear that Hemispheres had an influence on bands such as Dream Theater and Tool; it is also said that Iron Maiden and Alice In Chains were also influenced by Rush, and in particular this album. Awesome album. It's a pity Rush lost the touch after "Show Don't Tell" because it was such an amazing progressive hard rock band back in the days. I still love the 70s and 80s stuff when I'm in the mood for something less aggressive (compared to Thrash and Black Metal) but I've never been able to enjoy their 90s and 00s stuff.

The trees has possibly the best lyrics ever. Whether you take it as some social-political metaphor or a just a cute story about fighting foliage its hilarious

Clearly one of their best albums. For me only outperformed by Moving pictures, while pretty much at par with 2112. What I like with this album is that it is their only album where I can enjoy each song (then again there are only four of them). I might enjoy the final track marginally more than the other three -- however, this might be the case with first track on another day; it is also excellent. Unfortunately, I cant really get into any other of their albums after MP.

One of the greatest prog albums ever, a true masterpiece if there ever was one. La Villa Strangiato is my favorite song here, still blows me away every time I hear it even after all these years.

My favourite album by Rush, Cygnus X1 Book 2 is one of Rush's finest progressive songs, its over 18 minutes of progressive perfection, La Villa Strangiato is quite possibly the best instrumental song ever made, and Trees is a very nice solid song with very clever and meaningful lyrics. Circumstances is slightly weaker than the rest but is still a good song too.

Their second masterpiece, Cygnus X1 Book 2 is great and all that but for me it's the second side with the monster La Villa Strangiato that blows my mind. One of the best prog instrumentals written

Rush was my introduction to hard rock. I liked everything up to Signals and that's where I got off the ride. Hemispheres didn't immediately strike me as their best work. I agree that La Villa Strangiato is a masterpiece. The rest is just ok to me. I think Moving Pictures is overall their best album. I'm trying to see if the rest of the album will grow on me.
