After the release of the excellent "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy", the new Symphony X opus "Twilight In Olympus" had high standards to fulfill. But once again, the band from New Jersey did a good job with keeping their own particular progressive heavy style. Loud guitar riffs, clean melodies and breathtaking while powerful vocals. Michael Romeo is still playing like a god and most of the songs are memorable.

Great and underrated album!

Amen! It seems like many people think this album suffers a bit from being caught in-between two masterpieces, but I was almost a little surprised to find myself thinking; it's right on par with all the other incredible albums from this band. "Smoke And Mirrors", "Looking Glass", "Orion", "Lady Of The Snow", etc, they're all out of this world.

Through The Looking Glass might take a few pointers from Dream Theater's "Surrounded" at the beginning, but is a truly remarkable song on a solid is slightly uneven album.

I have this weird feeling with this album; it has great momentum but it feels unfinished and hasted... strangely today I saw a YouTube comment saying there was a plan to write a title track but wasn't done, instead pulled apart to create songs on their next album. I have no means to verify if that's true but I wish we had got that song. Definitely an under appreciated part of the Symphony X catalog, and not just by the fans.

Good song writing and studio work
Songs stands out
01. Smoke And Mirrors - great song
02. Church Of The Machine - maybe their best song ever.
