It's always terrifying when a widely respected band that's seemingly been around forever announces it's final studio album.

But if this is, in fact, the 12th and final record from the Swedish doom metal legends, fans can comfortably know that the band went out with the Candlemass spirit very much alive and well.

I sounds like it could be from The Butterfly Ball. Dancing with a bee and all that.

But not musically

No, i ment lyricaly. The Butterfly Ball's a lot better than this. It's got Dio and Glen Hughes on it.

It does feature Dio (just on two songs) Glen Hughes and David Coverdale amongst others, but is a pretty damn weak album, actually even weaker than this Candlemass album

3 songs, actually (11, 19, 20).

I finally listened to it, and i was hoping i wouldn't agree with Joe, Marcel, and Troy... but sadly this album has the word mediocre written all over it.

Only one song, "Waterwitch" is really good. The rest is a laugh in the face of all Candlemass fans that know and appreciate the band's work. What a terrible way to say goodbye...

I like the album, my favorite era will always be the 80's with the first four albums, but as an album this is a nice one to finish the career.
The sound is good and there are many good songs, my favorites are 'The Sound of Dying Demons', 'Waterwitch' and 'The Killing of the Sun'.

I totally disagree with you. This is their worst album imo and therefore a totally unworthy album to finish their career with

So I guess this is more like epic fail and not epic doom anymore...quite poor farewell to be honest.

I laughed my ass off at the narration in Black as Time hahahah "Time doesn't give a shit!" but I gotta agree, it's a bad and incredibly drawn out song. And what a nasty fucking surprise at the middle of the song hahah, that was one voice I was hoping I would not hear again too soon.

I'm actually surprised "Time doesn't give a shit" hasn't become a meme in the vein of Lulu - "I am the Table" or something like that.

If Candlemass were as huge as Metallica, it would have become one, I feel confident of that!

What surprise? Besides one of the worst fucking intros I've heard in my entire life... and the song being extremely boring, I didn't catch anything in the middle.

the voice of the intro is there again with a spoke line. Actually it's at about 2/3 of the song at 4.33 "Time is the sword of destruction, a faceless conqueror, the master of doom"

Ah, got it... I guess I was too literal with the "middle" thing. I thought the beginning was so awful nothing afterwards could top it.

that part doesn't come close to the intro in hooridness. But the worst spoken intro ever is of course Kvarfoth's rant at the start of one of the albums (which got cut from the retail version and rightly so)

I'm talking about the voice in the intro, just when you think he finally shuts up, he's at it again

Oh definitely... I'm SOOO glad that my very first contact with the band was when I bought that album without the spoken intro. That was pure luck since I would have been pissed off otherwise!

Nice album, in some way mystic doomy feeling into it, I love it excellent work from band, a bit slower, more slower version of doom, I think Leif Edling must leave band and new basist mjust come in, let they write full album whit Mats Laven
