My Top Albums Of 2012
My Top Albums Of 2012
My favorite albums of 2012.
2012 was a good year for Metal, or should I say for Metal of my taste. The year was packed with a lot of Doom Metal albums, and the big names like My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Candlemass and Katatonia all came good.
My favorites Moonspell and Saturnus also came up with good albums. Epica was a bit of a let down, but still good enough for me. Then there were a couple of really good debut albums (Atoma and In The Silence top the list for me). So overall, it was a year where the hits just kept coming and music-wise I was never bored.

1.
Saturnus
- Saturn In Ascension
My favorite album of the year, and also my favorite Doom Metal album of all time. After a 6 year long wait, Saturnus came up with a gem. Highlights: The Guitar Riffs and Solos

2.
Swallow The Sun
- Emerald Forest And The Blackbird
Metal at it's best. Lyrically strong, with every song carrying a different atmosphere and meaning. Highlights: Melodies, both vocal and instrumental

3.
Moonspell
- Alpha Noir / Omega White
Poetic and well thought-out, whatever path this band takes, they will always get full marks for creativity. To me, this album is like 2 different faces that a man carries. One angry and revengeful, the other sad and defeated. Highlights: Lyrics, compositions and riffs.

4.
My Dying Bride
- A Map Of All Our Failures
A depressing atmosphere, heart wrenching lyrics, deep layered vocals and haunting riffs; ingredients of every MDB album are found in abundance in this album too. The most expressive album of the year. Highlights: The ability of the songs to communicate with you.
