Firewind - Few Against Many

Now i want it so badly...but still some of my pacience remaining ...:D

I don't think this will be good, but I hope it will, they're a decent band and have issued quite a lot of decent albums... Days Of Defiance is the first to let me down a bit.

U just think it won't be good for no reason? The Premonition and Allegiance are great albums so I see no reason why they wouldn't do another great album. Their other albums are ok, I don't like them a lot...

well......this is something new, we will see if it's good or not

On first listen, not much grabbed me..........something in Firewind has gone missing, not a patch on Allegiance or The Premonition.
(3 weeks later) I gave this album a few more listens and have to say it has grown on me. It's still not as good as the ones I mentioned but is rather splendid in places.

The album is not bad but I was expecting something better. One thing that bothers me is that they sound more hard rock/heavy style than power now. That being said, I doubt that they would reach the same levels of "Allegiance", "The Premonition" again... On this new release, I personally enjoed more the Self-titled song which is by far the best song on the album - wish the others were in the same vein.

Oh, and something last.. How on earth you write such an aggressive/heavy riffing song like "Another Dimension" and you put a ballad chorus into it?? Song ruined.

Riff is a little vintage, and modern keyboard is less than before ... Gus.G's solo is still fucking speedy and powerful ~

Well .. it's not bad but when I remember albums like Allegiance and Premonition .. I can't remember any single reason why would I play this one ...

Generic everything. Life and originality has been sucked out of the band. Be passionate and unique, not bland and chuggy, Firewind.

Another dimension reminds me of pagan's mind

Perhaps the most unoriginal Firewind album for me, but it's still fairly decent stuff. 'Edge of a Dream' is distinctive if only for its Apocalyptica involvement, and the more powerful songs like 'Wall of Sound' and 'Destiny' eclipse the quality of other tracks. By Firewind's standards, sort of average then.

A pretty average record. You can definitely pick songs here where they were aping the sound of another band, intentional or not. Parts that are blatant Metallica, one songs intro sounding like ACDC. It's towards a generic hard rock / heavy metal style. It's not a bad album, but it's one that could have been recorded by countless bands, apart from some of the blistering leads by Gus. Apollo sounded pretty cooked here, I feel like his voice is a bit hollow or weak here, whether it's the production or him losing some power, it's noticeable. Production itself is questionable.
