Amorphis - Unveil New Album Artwork And Tracklist

After taking us through the concept, Finnish melodic metallers Amorphis have just unveiled the cover artwork for their forthcoming album Circle, which was designed by Tom Bates. The band also shared the new album's tracklist containing nine tracks plus a bonus one.

Vocalist Tomi Joutsen comments on the cover artwork, created by Tom Bates (Bleed From Within, Devil Sold His Soul): "The mystic, androgynous person on the cover represents a spiritual guide. This character was sent from another time and place to help the album's protagonist find a new path for his life."

Circle will be available on CD on April 19th (Europe) and April 30th (North America), 2013 (without bonus track), black 2LP in gatefold, brown 2LP in gatefold and as a bulging ltd. box, including 3 bonus tracks + a wristband - exclusively available via the Nuclear Blast mail order.

Circle tracklist:

01. Shades Of Gray
02. Mission
03. The Wanderer
04. Narrow Path
05. Hopeless Days
06. Nightbird's Song
07. Into The Abyss
08. Enchanted By The Moon
09. A New Day
10. Dead Man's Dream [bonus track]

The album's ltd. digi book version will come with a bonus DVD, including:

- The Making Of Circle
- Nightbird's Song (video clip)

Shades of Gray??? Seriously??? It reminds me, when Swallow The Sun released New Moon at the time, when Twilight was on top.

That cover is kinda weird, but not bad... Tracklist a bit generic, and the first track makes me just think wtf... Is this supposed to be related to the porn-like books or Dorian Gray? I hope the latter one, but would also be kinda generic.

The album cover doesn't fit the band, looks like a doomish sludgy metal art cover, but it doesn't matter, amorphis this days doesn't disappoint

They' already played "Shades of Gray" live last month, went by the working title "Mehtä" back then.

So they are becoming Baroness?

And some really lame song titles, my god.

It's kinda useless to say things like 'doesn't fit' at this stage when most of this album's music remains unheard.

Yup. Needless to say, I am psyched.

Hmm very weird and different cover to say the least. But what matters is the content, and I'm confident about it. Their studio report videos showed some nice riffs.

Unexpected cover art, but that doesn't really play an important role.
I'm sure it won't disappoint, riffs from the studio videos sound very promising

@annodomini, i think what is more embarrassing is that you would associate New Moon with Twilight when it's a phase of the moon.

When I hear the word Twilight, I think of the Black Metal band. And when I hear New Moon I think of Swallow The Sun and the phase of the Moon.
