The Devil's Blood - The Band Is No More

The Devil's Blood - The Band Is No More

Not the best week for music fans with The Mars Volta breaking up, now another respected band The Devil's Blood quits making music. The reason for disbandment is unclear so far as the band members Selim and Farida Lemouchi posted a vague message on their Facebook page.

Here it is: "As of the 22nd of January 2013 The Devil's Blood has returned into nothingness. All planned Rituals will be cancelled. No interviews will be done. Consummatum est. - SL & F

The Devil's Blood - 2007 / 2013"

On the band's website you can read "This website and the facebook page will remain on-line. So any imminent development regarding the legacy of The Devil's Blood will be announced there. And nowhere else. The web store will remain open until further notice."

The band only released two full-length albums, The Time Of No Time Evermore and their last release The Thousandfold Epicentre which came out in November 2011.

Even though I have somewhat of a soft spot for female-fronted psychedelic/occult bands I was never a huge fan of The Devil's Blood, mainly due to the vocals. Their music wasn't bad in any way though so it's still a shame to see them disband.

Exactly how I feel. I love female-fronted, psychedelic doom but The Devil's Blood are way overhyped considering there's so much better talent out there. They're decent, but that's it.

What 'better' bands do you know that do this psychedelic doom with female vocals? I'd like to know some more.

Subrosa, Black Math Horseman, Jess and the Ancient Ones, Royal Thunder, Windhand, Ides of Gemini, Christian Mistress (more heavy than doom but definitely occult) to name some off the top of my head. Bloody Panda and Undersmile too if you want to go more extreme.

Castle is another one... More heavy though, but it has some doomy vibe here and there.

I can't remember if I've not listened to them or listened and didn't like them.

So I've managed to check out all of these bands 'cause I really love female-fronted stuff (some of them I knew ) , I'm also familiar with Black Moth and Castle ...got anything else ?

I thought you also saw them at Hellfest in 2010 (or was it 2009 they played, I can't remeber)

I saw them back then. Fun stuff. I knew nothing about them besides that they were labeled as psychedelic rock in the program. So, I went into the pit with my camera and then the band came out all covered in blood. I was more than surprised at that and trying to figure out whether I was at the right stage.

I.

No, I missed them at that time. Marie saw them, however
