Down went into a barn in southern Lousiana where they lived and recorded this album in order to give it the "bluesy" feel.The original title was "The Backwood Heavies"

Seems you need born in swamps to understand such music. In middle of album they had some kind sludge ballads something? Well seems folks in a swamps follow old blues, play guitar all day longh and watch gator eats alive kkk leadership. There has something here but listen such genre all day long hmmmm

This is my favorite Down album. It showcases all their influences on one record. NOLA is the fan favorite, killer record, but I feel Down II is more diverse. Love the swampy blues influence.

This is not a patch on the magnificent debut but it's still a pretty good follow-up regardless, and has some top-quality songs with "Ghosts Along The Mississippi" probably being the stand-out for me.
