Xandria - Singer Leaves, Find Replacement

Symphonic metal band Xandria has changed vocalist once again. The five piece is presenting the Dutch talent Dianne van Giersbergen as their new singer. The former singer for three years Manuela Kraller decided to leave the band "to follow other musical challenges".

Manuela thanks all fans and Xandria in a personal statement: "From now on I will follow my own musical path without Xandria...let me thank you with all my heart for the 3 years you have been by my side...be sure: this is not the end, it is just a new beginning...forever yours, Manuela."

Dianne van Giersbergen is 28 and from The Netherlands, and you might know her from the band Ex Libris.

The band says: "At the same time, Dianne's arrival means the departure of Manuela Kraller, who regrettably decided to continue a different musical path. Certainly, that was a big shock to all of us hearing Manu say she wanted to try other things. With major regrets we had to let her go. Not an easy task to deal with, whilst the goal was untouchable: To continue the musical journey we had taken with Neverworld's End. But: We are very happy to have found THE new voice and face in Xandria who will continue this fantastic ride, our last album Neverworld's End had taken us to. And we are yet to sail way, way further with Dianne now!"

Adding: "The show must go on and it sure will! We promise, what began with Neverworld's End was just a start and is yet to be taken to a higher level! Dianne will debut on stage with Xandria during our Spain tour in November. We hope you all will be with us! The Dream is still alive!"

I liked Manuela's voice, so I'm disappointed to hear this.

Let's hope Dianne's up to the task of replacing Manuela...and hope the band are up to writing a good follow up to their last album, now I think on it. If they write an album which doesn't play to Dianne's strengths as a vocalist, it's going to make her look worse, no matter how good the material itself is.

Thats a shame, she was fantastic.

Neverworld's End was very similar to Nightwish's two best albums (Oceanborn and Wishmaster)

That's really disappointing... I liked Manuela's vocals a lot, and Neverworld's End was awesome. Plus this can't be good, I remember listening to Ex Libris some time ago, and they weren't good. Hope I'm wrong.

Bummer, but just looked up some youtube videos and this girl has a really nice voice. Wasn't too attached to the last singer anyway, even tho she was good.

Look forward to some new stuff!

Another operatic female metal vocalist gone...first Nightwish, then Amberian Dawn, now Xandria, everyone's moving from powerful operatic vocals to thin girl-rock vocals.
At least the new vocalist is somewhat operatic, because it's basically just Xandria and Epica left anymore with good vocalists.

I think you may be confused as to what I mean when I say "operatic" vocals.

Patrick.
This was a let-down. I became absolutely in love with their last album and also Manuella's voice. Her vocal-sound is just... absolutely enchanting. And even though she did remind me of Tarja, I think Manuella's voice is even more emotional and she definetely climbed to the top as one of my favorite singers.
But as long as they can deliver another quality album, in whatever musical shape or form, and as long as this new singer has the abillity to do the existing material justice while bringing her own signature to the table... Then they should be just fine!
Which is easier said than done...

Oh man/girl.... I thought Xandria going to be the next big thing in operatic symphonic metal with her voices. It is worth keeping Manuella at all cost.

Damn! I really had high hopes on this band, I like their last album a lot.
It' seems everything looks clear for Nightwish now... I mean, they will take over and Xandria will be an average band again.
