If you have been following the drama surrounding Pungent Stench, you know there are now two versions of the band, much like with Entombed and Queensrÿche. One is led by vocalist and guitarist El Cochino (Martin Schirenc), with the name The Church Of Pungent Stench, and the other by drummer Alex "Rector Stench" Wank, Pungent Stench. Well, there are new developments. Rector Stench promised action and due to a restraining order, the name The Church Of Pungent Stench cannot be used and has been changed to Schirenc. Confused?




Martin "El Cochino" Schirenc explained what is happening: "Due to a temporary restraining order, I'm not allowed to use the name The Church Of Pungent Stench, until further notice. Apparently, the current state of the ongoing soap opera of Pungent Stench has reached a new level of buffoonery. However, this will not keep me from playing my music!

"All announced shows will take place as planned and only classic Pungent Stench material will be featured, but for now the band is going to perform under my name - Schirenc. Mike, Danny and I are looking forward to rock, because whining is for wankers!"

Saw The Church Of Pungent Stench at Eindhoven Metal Meeting and they were great, just like they were back in the day and on their albums.

Five years too late, but I finally got the joke: Rector Stench's real name is Alexander Wank.
Shirenc has always been the most important key member of Pungent, anyway.

That reminds me: it's about time for a new Hollenthon album.
