Not as fancy as I'd expected, or that atmospheric, but plenty of really catchy meloblack. Especialy Eye Ov The Storm.

Honestly I prefer this album over Einfallen. Catchy meloblack? Yes and no. This album is similar to Enslaved and I wouldn't call Enslaved 'meloblack'. Of course there are some really catchy riffs here but this is prog black + some atmospheric elements.

I'm listening to Einfallen at the moment and this one is better by a long shot. Einfallen just plods along for the most part (halfway through the last song now). Can hear bits of Witherscape and Triptykon init, though.

Anyone else think this is a bit thrashy at times?

I definitely second the Triptykon influences. I had already written that into my review and was glad someone else hears it. Honestly, I don't hear much BM in this at all. Either way, I am loving both of these album.

It's got enough parallels to Enslaved that if you like Enslaved you really need to give these guys a listen. At the same time, this is definitely not an Enslaved record. More than enough originality here to separate themselves from Enslaved, or really anyone else that comes to mind.
