The cat is out of the bag - Iron Maiden dropped their 16th Studio Album today. Opus - such an overused word, and while other bands affectionately call their latest effort just that, the Brits literally delivered one with The Book Of Souls.

After The Final Frontier we had to wait five years for this album. But does The Book Of Souls deliver a great experience?

Empire of the Clouds is a top 5 Maiden song of all time. Absolutely incredible stuff.

Good song, but not in top 5 tbh if you taking length of the songs into the consideration.

Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Trooper, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Wasted Years, Fear of The Dark, Dance of Death and may be Empire of the Clouds.

For me it is. Hallowed, Fear of the Dark (any live version especially), and Infinite Dreams are my top three.

All songs from the 80s are better then most song on this IMHO.

But it´s still a good record to me. Just nothing special. No worse songs (Man Of Sorrows is quite weak) but also no big highlight. Empire Of The Clouds is my fave here. The Red And The Black could have been another highlight but it's unnecessarily long.
