Draconian - Sovran

It's a good album but not as good as I expected from old Draconian. it's kinda too melodic and no riffs at all. I find a couple of song very good like Pale tortured Blue and Dishearten but the rest is boring. However Turning Seasons Within was also the same.

I miss those days when I would listen to Death Come near me and Cry of Silence for hundred times a day...

Better then "A Rose ...", but not better then elder classic.

Really good and athmospheric release. Draconian is always in a creative search and I approve this approach.

I agree, but Heikes voice is awesome, she creates another atmpsferere into it

Oh my god this was boring to listen to.

I think Pale Tortured Blue might have to be my 2nd favourite Draconian song.

Having the previous records (not demos or EP, though) I find no bad sounds in this release. Heike Langhans vocals are very well placed in lieu of Lisa Johansson. I am late coming into Sovran, but again, I enjoy this greatly.

Dishearten is one of my favorite Draconian songs. The end is awesome. Also, "Rivers Between Us" reminds me of "She Dies". Something about the male and female vocals and the way Draconian uses them works really well. Solid album.

I knew it then, I know it now, its their best, its most doom, most all album. heike singing. vocals, she is the key, better as Lisa and also Anders sung less, she ddi it more, its as she is key singer. I listened this today and 1, 4 and 8 songs are best of their whole disco , uts amazing, more doom, calmer, less dead elements there. I like it and it will be their best unless new album whenever its out brakes it

This is a favorite of mine. At first I really missed Lisa Johansson's voice. After a second listen, Heike Langhans's vocals grew on me and I found her to be a very emotional vocalist.

Lisa was such an amazing vocalist but I can't say I really missed her vocals on this, because Heike is such an amazing vocalist aswel, they both bring something different, a different kind of emotion and passion, and each bring a whole different vibe to the bands style sound. However I must admit I prefer Heike's vocals, there is something so raw and emotional about her style, I really can't get enough of listening to her.

The album itself is very good, in fact I rate it as one of their best even, the vocals and doomy instrumental structure work in almost perfect harmony together. The songwriting isn't their best, and the riffs and melodies aren't exactly that memorable, but what us memorable is the amazing vocal performances and sheer emotion.

I agree but Heike is weird seems used a band to come to Sweden, more to Europe, then leave, alone she never will reach anything so high as here. She might tour more, sing more, but Dranconia was to big to swollow.

Lisa was the original heartbeat of Draconian, the reason why I liked the band so much in the first place, I thought nobody would have ever been able to step into her shoes, but after hearing Heike for the first time, she blew me away. Her vocals are less operatic, and she doesn't have the traditional female vocal style of most European gothic/doom bands, but her vocal style brings something unique to Draconian, a certain passion and emotion. I think both singers are equally as brilliant in their own unique way, and both have done an amazing job for the band.

Crazy melancholic doom with gothic vibes. I think Draconian is probably the best at creating this kind of music. The song writing is impeccable. The song, Marriage of Attaris is out of this world.
