Love the groovy sound... All 3 so far released songs are nice! This might be one of the better FF albums...

Obviously your opinion. You actually gave the new BTBAM a 10? ... wow

What else would it be? A fact?

Edit: I'm also not really sure how my rating BtBaM's latest a 10 relates to this conversation at all Are you implying it's generic?

I'm curious why you insisted on pointing out that what I wrote was an opinion. Seems like common knowledge on this website to be honest

Well, this guys invented this genre 20 years ago. You may not like it, but their machine gun sound is a known trade mark.

Sounds to me like they took a dump on their trademark, because this doesn't sound remotely like a machine gun. All right...perhaps a really shoddy one

In any case, consistency of quality isn't intrinsic to past success. From what little I've heard of their early material, it's far above this.

Maybe, but it's the genre they created, so I guess that's not so worrying

As for machine guns, meh no one with half a clue fires them like this (except third rate 3rd world insurgents). To retain accuracy and reduce barrel overheating you fire it in short bursts.

Well said

It is terribly generic though. Typical Fear Factory. Better though than Industrialist but nothing on Mechanize. Not bad but kinda superfluous - might as well stick with first 3 and Mechanize.

Here I come again ! I don't agree and yet I've been following FF since Soul Of A New Machine. The Industrialist is a good album but terribly short and it really sounds like a 2 men job not a full band collaboration imho. Mechanize is good as well but I love the 3 tracks of Genexus we have been able to listen to so far, they show variety and touches that we have seldom heard from FF before (ok won't say never hear before

I haven't been excited waiting so much for an album since... Erm cannot remember indeed !

Oh and to the people who think FF sounds generic, please give me names of bands sounding like this, THEY sound like FF, not the opposite !

I'm old enough to tell you're damn right I've heard guys like Max Cavalera worshiping FF for their innovative and original sound back in the 90's.

Going back to topic, this album looks great already. The singles not only combine the best elements from their old albums + Mechanize, but I also sense an improvement in the overall sound of the tracks (ie. recording/mixing/post-production)

Industrialist is boring and souless IMO. Mechanize was great, probably thanks to half of classic Strapping Young Lad line up being present.

Do you remember an album called Obsolete? Plenty of variety and well executed too! Even Soul of a New Machine was quite diverse. Demanufacture less so but still had a few very different songs.

Digimortal was the same (though I wasn't a fan of that album). Variety does not make an album!

It's generic for Fear Factory aka filler in other words. These songs are average to ok but nothing spectacular.

I like the Industrialist but I agree that it somehow sounds dehumanized (ironic isn't it ?). I like all albums of FF except for Transgression which is so meeeh ! But when it comes to variety you won"t tell me that most FF albums don't have an identity :

* Soul Of a New Machine is a raw album reminding of old Napalm Death sometimes. It makes me think of a stone found on the ground, untouched and pure.

* Demanufacture is a perfect combination between industrial fx and speed metal. A manufactured object but not too sophisticated.

* Obsolete is more mature maybe, adding more layers and some sort of a line that most tracks follow.

* Digimortal is fine but not my favourite either and the "rap" touches heard here and there annoy me (esp on tracks like "Back the Fuck up").

* Archetype and Mechanize are good yet different from previous albums as they have nothing "special". The band perfectly knows the job but there is no surprise anymore.

* The Industrialist is a good album but like I said before, it sounds like something created by a machine, not a band.

So far the tracks from Genexus sound good, picking up the qualities from previous albums : sometimes raw, sometimes industrial, even symphonic, with either raw or clear vocals. Hope you will excuse my poor English. I feel that my words are not hitting as they should. Hope you got the overall feeling

It might be a matter of what you like and what you don't like, but these are definitely no fillers.

What it is you're a huge fan. I'm a fan of albums but have found the band progressively more boring since Obsolete as time has gone on, other than Mechanize.

Indeed over the last decades I have stopped listening to the bands I liked +20 years ago. The few remaining bands are Fear Factory, Dark Tranquillity, Septicflesh, Amon Amarth and Cradle of Filth. All these bands have more or less changed over the years but evolution is nice to me (ok Amon Amarth hasn't really changed a lot

Anyway, back to the topic : I really want to listen to the rest of Genexus !
