Probably their best since Volcano. Killer riffs y and great drums work, specially in Blood Cracks. Return to blackened tunes in Black Wings and some surprises in Dissonant, main title and The Ghost of Rome.

Great vocal, great drums, amazing album

Great album! Too bad they didn't have the vinyl with them on their Tilburg and Vosselaar shows. Grrr...

Disappointing album. All their albums go worse and worse each time they release them. I can't believe some people liked this album. It's slow tempo, vocals are not great, hardly even call this Black Metal vocal. Riffs & melodies are very simple. Drums ain't fast too. Generally it sounds slow, bad version of Black Metal. Oh and don't forget awful album cover too.

Due my connections by years in metal music, I had a chance listen this one month before its was out. I remember Sigurd Vongraven spoken about Ac/Dc how they write all same sounding albums, I have to say is this better as bans old works? No it is not, no speed, some journey type atmosfre as Volves in a throne room has. Yes its BM but a bit some doom slow not speed sounding. I prefer speed in BM and atmosphere.

I personally enjoy this record. It shows diversity of song writing, technical ability, beautiful in-song transitions. The sounds ebb and flow to keep you entertained and on your toes, and maintains the 'heavy' sensibilities that the listen demands from heavyweights such as Satyricon. I'd give it 9/10. Arguably the best album of the year, and definitely their best since the turn of the century. I'm not understanding the heavy handed critiques this album is getting....?

A kinda of let down for me.

Expected better ... I think it's too raw and simple ...

Quite a forgettable album, it isn't bad but not really good either. The production is kind of crap though.

I love everything about this album. And the drums sound like real drums.

I see a lot of people saying this album is bad because it as no speed. I actually am a fan of Doom as much as Black, and I always love when the two kinda meet. This has become my favourite Satyricon album, the songwriting is really cool, a bit catchy at times, headbanging at most. And I had the occasion to see them a few weeks after the album release and they kicked ass.

I like doom, and BM, but this is nothing non of them. I cant headbang whit this, its not bad or good, its between and way to crappy to be underground and take some people in to BM world, but I dunno I am listening it now, its hard to tell if I will listen it again,

There're no blast beats, but the album's got groove and is catchy black rock / black metal. Great!

Honestly enjoyed this a lot.
