In Flames - Reveal 'Foregone Pt. 2'

A few weeks ago, In Flames announced their 14th studio album, Foregone, which will arrive via Nuclear Blast Records on February 10th, 2023. Following the single "Foregone Pt. 1", the band now shares a video for the song "Foregone Pt. 2", available for streaming below.

Frontman Anders Fridén states: "While revisiting songs in our catalog like 'Moonshield' and 'Gyroscope', I felt we hadn’t done that style for a while. We wanted to honor those types of songs which incorporate the Swedish folk vibe, but bring it to the current era of In Flames. Musically and lyrically it is a continuation of Foregone."

They are 4 out of 4 for the singles as far as I'm concerned. State of Slow Decay is still the best but that I really like both Foregone songs. Great Deceiver is also good.

I read people everywhere talking about the return to form. To me this sounds extremely similar to their previous album ^^ And I did like the previous album myself. I just can't understand how people were shitting on it and now find this good.

I enjoy all eras of In Flames (except maybe for Lunar Strain), including Battles and Mask, but I disagree with your evaluation of the sound being similar to that of Mask! Maybe the guitar sound has some similarities, but Anders is doing way more harsh vocals, and the riff and drum patterns are some kind of mesh between Clayman and Come Clarity I would say, with nice production.

And, since Mooshield and Gyroscope are two of my favorite IF songs, I'm very happy with this new song shared by them.

If only that "Friden Castro" could be kicked out of the band I'll give 'em a second chance. It is my limit, but I just cannot stand him...and with Jesper out of the band, nothing seems the same to me. I miss the trade mark, the riffs, that sound that I used to love so much. I cannot listen to them without prejudice...(my bad)...

Ooof. This ain't it. Other 3 singles were decent. This is back to their usual post-Jesper garbage.

Well, I wasn't so sure about my comment myself, and I listened to the track again before replying to you, and I actually stand to my comment 100%. This sounds way closer to I, the Mask than Clayman to me. Clayman is my favourite In Flames album, and I don't hear much from that. Now it might be the production that influences my judgement yeah. But I feel like the main singing here is the clean singing which sounds 100% similar to I, The Mask while we get only a little screaming, no matter what it sounds like.

Yes it was a joke. Friden at the place of Fidel...as he usually dress like Castro (hat, jacket...)

I feel the same with this single. The other three were really good.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

I thought I would hate this track but it's grown on me... I just wish he would stop signing in favor of the lower pitched talking he used to do on the earlier albums.
