Crisis is a metalcore band hailing from New York City with a ground breaking female vocalist, Karyn Crisis. After two explosives albums through Metal Blade Records, 1996's "Deathshead Extermination" and 1997's "The Hollowing", the band entered an extensive touring period throughout the US and Europe, gaining a reputation as powerful performers. After moving to the West coast in 2000 and signing a deal with The End Records, they recorded their new effort, "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter" under Billy Anderson's production.
Wait a minute? Metalcore with a female singer? It sounded promising unfortunately, I have to say that I was a little bit disappointed by this album. Sure the vocals are original, varied and insane from clean voice to grunts but music wise the variations are too rare to give any real identity to "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter". It isn't bad, it's just plain generic sometimes. Efforts have been made to bring some diversity but at the end it sounds like it didn't pay off. Well now, I don't think they pretend to play highly technical songs, they are a metalcore band after all!
Nevertheless, Crisis is probably one of these bands that set the stage on fire and unleash fury while playing, you can tell by the intensity brought into this album. If you want to deafen your neighbors or make think your roommate you're a weirdo, [which is why people listen to metalcore in the first place, isn't it?] Crisis is your man and "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter" remains a serious option.
