This is Hard Rock with style I must say, no cheesy lines and woww uaaua choruses, but no happy songs either, this is weird, last time I checked, Hard Rock had those happy songs everywhere. I think this is Hard Rock for cowboys or something like that, I really don't know, I can't tell, I don't care.
This band is actually old and this is their fourth album, the first one being twelve years old, so we have a band with experience here. The songs are pretty varied, but not all shine, and I can sense some fillers, but I have also some to point out, like "Am I The Only One" , a great song with a catchy chorus, "The Rapture" great violin use in this one, I was surprised! And "The Man Who I Am" excellent semi acoustical song.
The rest of songs aren't bad, but nothing impressive I must say, just some Hard Rock, sad Hard Rock, if anything like that exists, maybe the happiest song in the album is "Mind Trip" although in the chorus falls down, the closer "Child Of Rage" is the typical Hard Rock ballad that was so popular in the eighties, is a nice song with some country music influences, you know, Hard Rock for cowboys.
Anyway, good album, bad album? I must say, neither, is a pleasant listen, but not a memorable one, I fear that this album won't get much play in my stereo, hope things change in time, but I'm not a cowboy, I'm just your regular long-haired, spike-wearing, pierced and tattooed Metalhead, God, I'm a cliché.
