Well, in my opinion, a big part of the nu-metal scene is filled with bands that lack of inspiration and the ability to compose albums that will remain as classics and will be remembered many years after their release. Of course there are some examples, like Korn, that the history has shown, though I don't like them that much, that they are a milestone band for the scene and they are, actually, metal, having offered a new metal hybrid around in the first half of the 90s.
Tolerance 0 is one of those bands that won't try to be known through the clothes they wear, through the advertisements they will gain from big sponsors in the USA or in any other mysterious ways that make bands blossom like mushrooms of gold in no time. They are here and they offer their debut, as far as I am concerned, album to the nu-metal scene/audience and, in my opinion, the guys did a really wonderful work!
"43 Minutes Of Hate" is the name of Tolerance 0's release and the title is in a way true, the album is groovy and dynamic, filling the listener with an imposing energy, without leaving behind some more emotional moments though, that make the atmosphere more? fragile.
The band is not the most original around and someone can easily notice Korn references in the groove of the album and the use of the rhythm section, even the vocals sometimes. Also, some Slipknot influences from their "Slipknot" album period are noticeable at times, not so much in the musical factor but in some clean vocal lines. And, what is the hottest name of the nu-metal scene at the moment? System Of A Down, yes, you guessed it correctly, such passages could not be missing and they are obvious mainly in the vocal lines and in some compositions concerning, in a way, their structure.
Well, I said that the band is not the most original band around and it's true, but, this doesn't mean I should judge badly Tolerance 0 simply because what they are doing they are doing it really well, putting here and there some personal references as well, offering 12 compositions of pure energy and power. The singer is really charismatic, with his vocals varying from well-put melodic ones to some brutal passages or more twisted ones, interpreting the thoughtful lyrics in the most appropriate way! The guitar riffing is inspired and the riffs help the album flow well and, what someone can easily realize is that, the rhythm section is imposing, powerful and creative, lending the ideal groove such wonderful songs deserve (the "Territory"-oriented drumming in the beginning of "Deadline" rocked all the way)! The production is really good and moves in professional pathways and it is really obvious that, from their production, their playing abilities and their compositions, Tolerance 0 can become a really big name in the nu-metal scene.
They have all the elements that can make them well-known and "43 Minutes Of Hate" is an album that every nu-metal fan should check.
