Mixomatosis is one of those cult bands with many years in the scene and of course with many fanatics following their path. They released Sang Corrupta back in 2002 as a split album with the polish band Mastectomia; now Half-Life records gathered a couple of songs and released Sang Corrupta as a new Full Length featuring 15 songs instead of only 11.

This record shows that old gore band we already know, we can again hear their intense blast-beats their catchy breakdowns, that distorted bass-lines and even the usual raw and muddy mix that we get in every Mixomatosis album. I can say this music has a lot of Macabre approaches (including a cover), their lyrical content is heavily influenced by the aforementioned band indeed and even the musical structures resemble to what Macabre used to release in the old days; so now you know how Mixomatosis sounds, I'll talk of something else now.

The bad thing about Mixomatosis is their lack of evolution, they keep creating the same sound over and over again; it is not a bad sound at all you know? But the fact that after almost 16 years this band from Spain keeps releasing the same beat and the same riffage is actually a turn-off if you know what I mean. Though I am NOT reviewing the band's career, I'm reviewing this album?and this album as a whole, putting aside the development factor, is actually quite good.

In the end Sang Corrupta will make your head shatter with its brutality; if you are a Mixomatosis aficionado and you don't have this album in your pile of CD's I recommend you to get it as soon as possible; If you like Goregrind in general and you have never heard of the name before, give it a shot, after all this is of course a cult band from the underground scene; though, if you are a Gore fanatic who owns at least one of their splits, I can assure you'll get the same music that you already have in your collection. So yeah?this is Mixomatosis a band playing Goregrind?
