A lot of people probably know Mr Sascha Paeth, famous producer but also guitarist of the German combo Heaven's Gate. Lately, Sascha decided to play again in a band with his old band mate (ex singer of Heaven's Gate then) Thomas Rettke. Redkey was born and their first album "Rage Of Fire" is out now so if you want to listen to good old German Power Metal I believe that you should have a look on this release.

Redkey is a bit like an old school Power Metal combo. I mean that they didn't choose to follow the trend of the numerous "Euro Power Metal" bands like Sonata Arctica or epic stuff like Rhapsody. On "Rage Of Fire" you'll be able to listen an aggressive Power Metal, which will remind you old school music. Between Heavy, Power and even Hard Rock, "Rage Of Fire" is full of good things, and plus Thomas Rettke is a really good and impressive singer. "Rage Of Fire" (probably the better song of the album) for example, is composed with a really heavy guitar riffs with in addition a strong fast rhythm. But it's the general loud and heavy ambiance of the song which give all its power. It's just a classy Heavy Metal song.
Though however, if the album is really fast and "thrashy" at the beginning, it's also a bit slower and calm at the end? It's a bit sad to see this change and lack of energy at the end?

Unfortunately (and that's extremely weird when you know that Sascha plays in this band!) the production is a bit average. If the voice of Thomas is perfectly audible, it's clearly different with the drums which are not powerful at all and that's a bit the same with the weak lead guitar. It's not horrible of course, but it's surprising?

Rage Of Fire is classic that's right but it's a solid and respectable album of Power (with balls) Metal. Fans of Jag Panzer, Vicious Rumors etc, have a look on this release, I'm quite sure that you'll agree with me to say that it is a good album. Let's hope that Redkey we will release some others albums like this one in the future.
