As far as songwriting goes, it's just as authentically 80-ish as the whole rest of the package, of course borrowing here and there from the greats of the time like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Despite a whole bunch of good guitar solos, the instrumentation is a bit loose at times. Luckily the vocals can make up for it. With his wide range and occasional Halford-esque screams, many bands would have been happy to have had Lethal Saint's vocalist on board.
For me the main flaw of this CD seems to lie in the songs being played too slowly. Many of the songs are pretty good by themselves, if only the instrumentation were sped up a wee little bit. Also a lot of the songs could easily have been 3-5 minutes as opposed to 5-8 minutes. That would also help mitigate the problem that 70 minutes is too long for a release like this.
All in all Lethal Saint isn't a bad album, but it's not much more than a stroll down memory lane either. Oldschool fanatics should get some kicks out of it, but that's pretty much it.
