For the readers with a short attention span: If you like blazing, unrefined death metal with a contemporary flair, no need to continue any further, this is something for you.

For the genre purists: First you'll have to know this Belgian squad started out as a hardcore band before changing gears; traces of that legacy are still found in several places. So when I label Resistance as a deathcore band, note that this is a deathcore band that is not too big on the deathcore textbook approach. I also label them as deathcore because calling this death metal influenced hardcore with some deathcore tendencies would be totally gay. To wrap it up, unlike the numerous deathcore acts that deserve to be shot into a distant solar system we can't possibly imagine, this release is actually worth challenging the core attention span.

For the ones who need a comparison with better known bands: Resistance fit perfectly in the thriving Belgian death metal pool, so obviously they are more or less of the same caliber as notorious noisemakers such as Leng Tch'e and recent Aborted.

For the colorful description appreciators: Lords Of Torment turns out to be a fierce slab of unforgivably aggressive and bold metal, that is so contagious there should be a vaccine for it. Resistance maintain a punishing pace throughout the whole record and put together a solid and unnecessarily loud performance. Next to being as brutal as dipping your balls into a deep fryer, Resistance is also decidedly destructive in their death metal approach. Oh yes, this band has baseball bats and sledgehammers stocked up in every song... and they're not afraid to use them on your kneecaps, shoulder blades and most of all eardrums. This is the kind of stuff that will get you pumping. For a moment there I was so fired up I was even considering to kill myself so that I could go straight to hell to smack Satan right in the face multiple times.

For the sake of a concluding punch line: If you feel kind of dirty listening to this album, just imagine the amount of showers I will have to take now that I sort of praised this deathcore-ish demonstration of devastation to the skies. Mosh away!
