18:52 - IronAngel
That said, you'd have to be pretty well-marinated in the trenches of the culture wars to be confused by anti-fascim and anti-immigration views in the same person. There's no conflict, and I imagine it's quite common.
18:51 - IronAngel
Many modern "smart" BM artists are self-important pseudo-intellectuals, though, and that can be even worse. Metal has a problem with taking itself too seriously more often than the average.
18:34 - Anghellic67
I see it as an ingredient that mixes well with many other kinds of music.
18:32 - Anghellic67
Yeah, the bm I love is either epic or atmospheric and very rarely sound evil.
18:15 - InnerSelf
Nah, Black metal is way past the sounding-evil bit. It pretty much moved away from that in the late 90s. The genre is way more than its 1st and 2nd wave. Panzerfaust being one example of that.
17:18 - Kirinyale
I might be missing out on a lot of nuance, of course. But whenever I try to listen some of it, I lose interest too fast to find it.
17:15 - Kirinyale
Yep, the idea of the genre is literally about "looking/sounding evil". Which is maybe one of the reasons I could never really get into it. Regardless of whether each specific band is "truly evil" or "just posing for fun".
