And yeah, I can assure you that lines of code can bring out all sorts of emotion, too. :) Although one has to have lots of prior and contextual knowledge to understand them, so if it's art, it's a very niche kind of art.

As for board games - it isn't simple either. A chess set (board + carved and/or decorated pieces) can very well be art on its own. The game itself? I don't know, nowadays it's even called sports. I'm sure many think it's art too.

Something created with the intent of calling it "art" probably is. Although it might be bad art if nobody other than the author sees it as such. Something created without such intent can still be art if a lot of people thinks so.

I don't think there's a universal definition of art anywhere (even wikipedia has different ones in different languages). In the end, I guess, the art is whatever we think it is.
