1. Enslaved - Mardraum - Beyond The Within
10: Best mix of creativity, adventurousness, technical prowess, and memorable melodies.
2. Enslaved - Blodhemn
10: Thrill ride. Super fun and memorable, but far less adventurous than Mardraum.
3. Enslaved - Isa
9.5: Best of their melodic works. Meloncholy and absolutely beautiful.
4. Enslaved - Frost
9.3: Icy classic. My favorite of their more straight BM works. Songwriting improved over VV.
5. Enslaved - Ruun
9.2: Isa's baby with Tool's Lateralus. It's a great listen start to finish with lots of memorable songs, but doesn't break much new ground.
6. Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini
9.0: Such spirit and renewed energy after the bored sound of Vertebrae. The drumming is amazing, and this one definitely grows more each listen. Strong Opeth influence here, especially on Waruun and Night Sight.
7. Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
9.0: The blueprint for everything after. While it's not something I can listen to over and over, it gets extra points for being more out there and progressive than anything else going on in the early 2nd wave of BM.
8. Enslaved - In Times
8.8: It is amazing how much the clean vocals have evolved and improved with each release. The riffs are simultaneously blistering and sorrowful. All in all, this may very well be their chilliest album to date, but still plenty enjoyable and well-written. It has fewer memorable moments than RIITIIR, but is more consistent.
9. Enslaved - RIITIIR
8.5: Over 20 years running and these guys still continue to grow and change. It's pretty uneven, but there are some stunning tracks and I think the band finally accomplishes what he has been trying to do with clean singing for around a decade.
10. Enslaved - Monumension
7.5: Few probably expected to find Pink Floyd floating in their bowl of black metal, but there it is. Possibly their weirdest and most adventurous album, just lacks some memorability and enjoyability at times.
11. Enslaved - Eld
7.2: The opus "793" is one of the greatest tracks Enslaved has ever made. Clear tributes to Bathory all over this record. Unfortunately there are a lot of awkward, nagging riffs and progression is lost in favor of randomly bashing riffs against eachother. It's early BM meets a less-accomplished Dillinger.
12. Enslaved - Below The Lights
7.0: Two of my favorite cuts start this record. The opener is just stunning. The rest is quickly forgotten despite repeat attempts for this to grow as it has on many.
13. Enslaved - Vertebrae
6.0: The only Enslaved album I can say I just don't like. It is dull, does nothing new, and is wholly unmemorable.

China was a neat
The only Enslaved albums I've listened to are AEO, Vertebrae, Isa & RIITIIR so I can't really speak about their whole discography but a +1 just because it seems you know what you are talking about.

P.S : It's a good reminder as well for me to check out their discography in full.

The more I listen to AEO, the more I think about moving it up a bit. There are a lot of cool little movements that happen and I hear something new every time. And dat drumming!

Edit: Ended up bumping to a 9 and moving from 6 to 5. Sorry VV.

I agree with everything but Monumension. It's a terrific album, my personal Enslaved best.

I agree with everything but Monumension. It's a terrific album, my personal Enslaved best.

I really liked it at first, but subsequent listens have led me to feel less impressed. There are still some really cool things going on and two tracks in particular that I love. I respect it, I just don't find it as enjoyable anymore.
