I would add Dio's Sacred Heart at least by the honorable mentions. Overall, a very weak year for metal in my opinion.

Embarrassingly I've still never gotten around to listening to that one
Tough year to rank, a lot of albums I like but not really that I truly love, the riffs on Relentless got it the top spot and it's a nice underdog victory.

I've revisited Hell Awaits - it's really great! The riffs are as always good, but I really like the bass and drums. Araya's voice is also pretty badass.
And I also find it an interesting choice to have only 7 songs, but they're all longer than the songs on Show No Mercy. I think that choice worked pretty well because the songs don't just fly by and you feel more immersed in this hellish atmosphere

Yeah I think it’s a great transitioning album connecting the early style to the one on the Rubin era. It’s a shame that the songs don’t seem to be as remembered (except maybe the title track) because I find it quite consistent.

I'm not being disrespectful.
Why would disliking Dokken be predictable? One of the few glam metal bands I enjoy.

Same here, always thought they kinda lumped in because of their appearance. But they still seem to have that stigma to a lot of people who dismiss them because of it.

Never bothered me the way musicians look, their appearance as long as I found their music enjoyable.
