That Cold Black Magic, By Glenn Killer And His Thorchestra As is the case with my other lists, this is for my own organizational purposes and is designed purely to help me keep track of all the many black metal bands and albums that I enjoy, since I can't keep all of this information in my head. It has no other benefit whatsoever and will likely result in tantrums should anyone else see it. I'm aware that I haven't listened to every black metal album that I should have. I only went down to the 6s on this list, so it's possible that I have listened to your favorite black metal album that you desperately need to suggest and I thought it was terrible. There are a lot of heinously incompetent black metal bands out there.
On the off-chance that you've found this and actually care about what I think (you shouldn't), be advised that my favorites come first. Some are favorites in the general sense; some are favorites within black metal. The first few of those are in some order and not so much after that. Because this is for my own purposes and not intended to be a definitive list of pure black metal, there are some black metal-adjacent bands, or albums by black metal bands that may not themselves be black metal. That's why you'll find so much Sigh clogging up the top of the list. I prefer to keep whole discographies together on one list. I used to include Primordial, Forefather, and other such bands, but a while back I created a list for folk and I decided that those artists would fit better there. I update these lists very infrequently. This was last updated December 7, 2022.

The Black Lodge 2020 List Top 30 in alphabetical order plus some honourable mentions, the top 3 EPs and the best split. Here in the Black Lodge we had some other 20 album that could get in, but the gates in Twin Peaks woods slammed down in flickering flashlights...

My Top 100 Metal Albums of 2020 + 10 Honorable Mentions 1) Last year, I didn't quite finish with a strong list but I am hoping this year it will be. This time around I'm not sure if I want to do either a Top 50 or 100. It will depend on how much time I can dedicate to this. I came back listening to albums since February 29th and these are the fruits of my discoveries. Keep checking back throughout the year.

The Best Metal Albums* From A To # (J-K) This list is meant to be an extensive, but by no means exhaustive, collection of the greatest (modern) metal albums and eps. Art Appreciation: My Top Favorite Metal Album Artwork/Cover Art Of 2020 My source was looking at the most popular 1000 metal albums (excluding demos and EPs) of the year in question on the RateYourMusic website. I liked more than these but these are the ones that spoke to me the most. I went through all 1000, chose carefully, then went back to my short list and eliminated a few. Surprisingly, there aren't any Mariusz Lewandowski pieces featured here which is unfortunate because like a lot of people I'm quite a fan of his art. List is in order of popularity rather than being ranked by my preference.

Top 25 Albums Of 2020 By far the worst year for me... Period!
However, throughout the chaos that has happened in my country, I never stopped listening to new music that comes out this year, and have found some cool gems that have released this year. So it is time to list my favorite albums of the year. Let's see how many times I change this up after this.
