Belphegor - Lucifer Incestus 2003
01. Intro: Inflamate Christianos 02. The Goatchrist 03. Diaboli Virtus In Lumbar Est 04. Demonic Staccato Erection 05. Paradise Regained 06. Fukk The Blood Of Christ 07. Lucifer Incestus 08. The Sin-Hellfucked 09. Fleischrequiem 69 / Outro
Though 'Goatreich-Fleshcult' is probably seen as Belphegor's greatest achievement to date, looking back at 'Lucifer Incestus', it's a shame they didn't get the recognition they now have from this album.
The overall sound of 'Lucifer Incestus' is a less harsh machine than the sound that you may be used to if you started listening to Belphegor when 'Goatreich' was released. The guitars have a softer tone, which is odd considering this album leans more towards Black Metal than their later material. The musicianship is unmistakable in many songs, but especially in the track 'Fukk The Blood Of Christ'. This album seems to be slightly more experimental than the more straightforward material in other albums, with a bouncy catchy intro to the track 'The Goatchrist' (which I find an odd sound for Black Metal). Not to mention there is far more use of Gregorian style chants throughout this album, like in 'Diaboli Vitrus In Lumbar Est', but it's used most ingeniously in the song 'Fleischrequiem 69/Outro'. The chanting of the chorus in this track creates an indescribably powerful sound.
As with most albums, it has its dry and almost drawn out moments, which there seems to be a few seconds of in almost every track. It's most noticeable in the track 'Demonic Staccato Erection', which is still an enjoyable song as far as filler tracks go.
Though the doomish-style tracks found on later Belphegor albums won't be found on this album, it is still fantastic and covers a lot of ground musically and vocally and is a must have for any Belphegor fan, or any Black Metal fan for that matter.

Maybe I'd rate an 8 in originality, anyway it's a good review for a great album, the best Belphegor album IMO! |

This is album is great, like it better then fleshcult, the production is better ( more atmospheric ) the intro is pretty freaky though Personally, I dont think Belphegor is anything TOO original, but they do a damn good job at making good metal. |

| Goddamn this CD rules. The Goatchrist was placed perfectly after the intro, and all the Latin-Rape stuff that is heard puts a kick right in your stomach. 10.0! |

Fuckin' sexy cover.
Reminds me of an old poster I got out of a magazine promoting Ozzfest with Ozzy (as the Prince of Darkness atop his mighty throne) surrounded by nude chicks covered in red paint and wearing horns on their head, bowing at his feet. |
