To once again quote a fellow user and reviewer who was wise before I was:

"This album is Ulcerate's The Eye Of Every Storm."

Yeah this band hasn't done anything interesting since The Destroyer of All.

Yeah this band hasn't done anything interesting since The Destroyer of All.

Listen to the title track. It isn't exactly the recent Ulcerate. More linear, but effective still, without losing what they've been exactly known for.

Ulcerate can't go wrong. The single is more melodic but still good

This album is Ulcerate's The Eye Of Every Storm

This is a pretty good comparison. It's one of (if not the) most varied album they have put out with a lot of quiet(er) moments of contemplation. A really grand, crescdendo-heavy album as well. Personally, I feel like this is their best since The Destroyers Of All. I'm so glad this album is more varied as I was fearing they were getting stuck on a corner with the ultra brutal and suffocating sound.

They have been repeating themselves after tDoA. Due to the sheer intensity of their work, it is difficult to enjoy them when so many of their albums sound very similar. Here they have diversified their sound while maintaining their core signature.
I need to listen to it more but I guess I will end up giving it a 9/10.

Yeah, really the main difference is the production. It makes the music so much better that it sounds like they reinvented themselves

As someone that took a 6-month break from metal, this was a good album with which to return to the genre. Really great stuff.

The only other album that I have heard of Ulcerate is Vermis and in my opinion the sound does not differ a lot from that album. Which is not a bad thing. Ulcerate does not have a squeaky clean production unlike other tech death bands and that somehow makes it more listenable for me. "Exhale the ash" is a fucking monster.

Seriously guys? Top album of 2020? Has covid-19 messed-up your ears or something? 1st track sounds completely out of sync. I had to swap ear-phones and speakers to make sure but, I'm certain that the rhythm guitar is playing a different song. I won't rate it yet but, damn this sounds fucking weird to me

Is this your first time listening to any music with syncopation and poly-rhythms?

No. What's your point?

That you're complaining about a band using it as if you're completely unfamiliar with it.

That you're complaining about a band using it as if you're completely unfamiliar with it.

so the reason for not liking this is because I don't understand and/or I'm not 100% aware of the technical terms?
so if you try a dish and don't like it, it's because you didn't know the name, or the cooking method?

To go on with your analogy, that's quite like complaining that oriental food is too spicy. Or like when some relatives of mine from another part of the country came to visit us, we gave them some soup, and their kid complained that the borsch isn't sour enough, even though soup doesn't have any borsch.

Completely fine to not like those technical aspects in your music or to find them jarring, unnecessary or pretentious. Maybe these will grow on you as you listen to more similar music. Maybe you'll always dislike them. But I would really appreciate if you could state and defend your opinions without victimizing yourself and insulting people left and right.

Well I'm hard of hearing (nothing to do with the plague I assure you) and it sounds just fine to me so it sounds like a you problem. Maybe try getting a sound system that isn't cheap junk.

1st, that's a bad analogy, not all Oriental food is spicy.
2nd, I never said anything about liking the technical terms. I only mentioned not knowing them.
3rd, I don't owe you an explanation for not liking anything.

Being dissonant is the defining feature of ulcerate's music. Complaining about their music because of that is like complaining about cars because they have wheels.

Sorry to hear about your hearing problems friend. That must really suck. I'm happy that you like this band, though. Can you live with me not linking them, too? No-one else seems capable in this comment section.

Well isn't that pot calling kettle black since you seem unable to accept people actually "linking" it in the first place.
Very fitting emoji by the way.
