Deathcore is doing really well early in 2022 with Shadow Of Intent and Fit For An Autopsy releasing very strong albums already (and I am not even a fan of the style). But this one just destroys everything in its path - early contender for deathcore album of the year.

I watched Blayne Smith’s review of the album, and he mentioned that many people see this one as Death Metal with Hardcore, but not as Deathcore. And as pedantic as it may sound, I think I agree. I can really hear those two influences, but I wouldn’t necessarily have thought « Deathcore » on my own here. The singing for exemple doesn’t sound too Deathcore to me. It also doesn’t scream breakdowns.

Anway, I also don’t like Deathcore all too much, But I like this one a lot so far.

A good solid standard death metal album, with a sophisticated approach if that makes sense.

Blayne is my favourite Banger reviewer after Sarah. I only just watched his review and I don't necessarily disagree with his assessment style-wise. I definitely agree with him when he says that "when someone that is outside my standard fare gets me going the way this record does, I know it's a special one and it is going to make a big impact". So, I am not saying that this is a straight-up deathcore album and it surely is not a straight-up death metal album. For me, it leans more towards deathcore as I hear much of metalcore injected into their death metal. And hardcore of course too. I have developed a disorder that I think of albums in terms of MSA nominations. And I reckon Erebos would fit into the Hardcore/Metalcore/Deathcore category more than it would fit in the Death Metal category, if this makes any sense.

Anyway, whatever this is, I like it a lot. Amazing guitars, killer vocals, devastating riffs... yeah total banger.

I would definitely say these feels more lined towards something-core than death metal, but I can also see it's not necessarily deathcore; more of a death metal/metalcore hybrid, despite that sounding like the definition of deathcore lol.

I'm not quite as on board with it as the above, but I do think it's a solid record, and I enjoyed it more than I have liked Venom Prison previously

This confused the shit out of me. The tag said DM so I went ahead and gave Judges Of The Underworld a listen. Definitely more than just DM but I preferred the progressive/melodic bits to the korny bits.

Did you listen to the entire thing yet? As Blayne pointed out in the Banger review, I feel that it is somewhat representing a contemporary facet of extreme metal for the young crowd, but also manages to please old-school fans because it does not overlook the power of the riff. I also love the vocals. And I think it was a nice touch to close the album with the part that was featured in the intro.

Massive dislike. It sounded like a really bad version of Arch Enemy

It looks to me that the cover art is Kantor's depiction of the three wise monkeys, but using humans.

Nothing exceptional or groundbreaking but enjoyable. I like when they go more melodic or acoustic, it fits really well.

Solid album. Reminded me of Dimmu Borgir on tracks when keyboards have been used to add atmosphere to the overall sound. Wasn't a big fan of their early sound but liked this one a lot; towards a melodic death metalesque feel, better production, songwriting and performance.

This was kind of an average death metal listen to me, with some cool riffs in some of the songs.

Dreary production makes this album feel like it’s asleep.
