I sort of have a hard time to really "get" this kind of death metal, despite really liking what I hear. I had the same "problem" with Tomb Mold and to some extend Blood Incantation. I listend to all those albums numerous times very closely but in the end nothing sticks out to me in a really memorable way. Sure I reckognize each section of a song when its currently running, but the songs have so few repetitive moments that they eventually just feel completely unstructured to me. Maybe this kind of death metal is meant to provide a certain moment to moment experience instead of a structured concept? I simply don´t know and would be grateful for any kind of input.

It's not necessarily a bad album, but there's nothing at all memorable about it. The sound is pretty solid, but the structure is bizarre, it kinda gets a wee bit too complex at certain points, and there doesn't seem to be any real direction, which can make it hard to follow at times. The riffs in general are ok, but they start to go all over the place at times, the drumming on the other hand is pretty decent, especially when I hear the sound of that symbol being smashed, it's very effective. The production isn't bad, probably the best thing about it tbh, there's a slight rawness to it, but all the instruments are clear and mixed really well.

I can understand this sentiment with certain bands but not with Blood Incantation. For me they're one of the more accessible contemporary death metal bands. They verge on old school death metal but couple that with the atmospheric instrumental interludes, "Hidden History of the Human Race" in particular makes for a very memorable listening experience.

I enjoyed the last Faceless Burial album "Speciation" for that same reason but this time they've strayed away from the old school death metal influences, towards tech-death it seems. As a result it is less memorable and for me at least, less enjoyable.
