Do you ever get that feeling of just packing your bag and setting off on a long hike, abandoning everything in reality behind you? Well, Sgàile's post-metal could well be the escape you're looking for.

This is a great follow up to Ideals & Morality and it's hard to believe that this is a one man band. Tony Dunn's vocals reminds me of Lars Nedland and the album feels like a softer version of White Void's Anti, which is one of my favourite albums of recent years. This is definitely an album I'll be spinning a lot.

Wow, I didn’t expect this. Best release I’ve heard coming out this month for sure. What a wonderful surprise! I can definetaly here some Devin Townsend inspiration. The production is great and the songwriting is on point!

Great post-metal with a touch of Scottish folk, that's masterfully produced and performed to the highest standard, his vocals are indeed excellent, and so too is his songwriting capabilities, it seems ideally made for listening and reflecting to on long distance hikes, which I understand is something musician himself likes to do himself often. I can certainly see this being one of this months highlights, if not a stand-out release for post-metal by the end of the year, so I must say hat's off to the him, this is such a remarkable achievement for just one guy.

This is like a prog metal version of Saor. Very nice, I have to get used to the vocals however. The instrumental parts are downright excellent.

Funny you said that because Saor was also the band in mind when trying to pinpoint his sound here but they really don’t have a lot in common except that both feel like I should be hiking in the Scottish highlands when I listen to them

Yeah this is great - tbh it didn't sound as post-metal to me as I expected (but it has its fair share of moments for sure), very folky above anything else, but it's a nice Saor-adjacent sound

I somehow have a feeling that the vocals won't suit any other genres as well as it suit here. Here it fits hands in gloves with the instrumentation. Some of the best of the year definitely.

Fantastic record, something to like in every song, I especially love tracks 2 & 3. Standout is definitely the vocals.

I don't like the sound of the drums though, the bass drum especially, it drowns out the rest of the mix for me.

One among the very few albums that I like which clock more than 10 minutes tracks. 'Lamentations By The Lochan' is clearly my favorite track.

Sounds like a mix of Saor and Distant Dream/Widek and with vocals of Karnivool, which is not a bad thing. 8/10

Indeed, of all 2024 releases I've been listening to this one the most so far.
I see where many people may be coming from regarding vocals, but they're great, and fit perfectly. Vocal harmonies are amazing. Epic without being too much.
