I'm not quite sure what to make of this, production seems somewhat offish to me, the guitar work sounds kinda fuzzy which is a shame because as usual there's some quality riffs in there, the occasional synths seem add a nice touch though. IDK, it doesn't quite sound like Inquisition of old, but it might be a case of taking time to sink in

Edit: Not such a bad listen, the synths and solos are probably the stand-out factors for me. "Memories Within an Empty Castle in Ruins", "Infinity Is the Aeon of Satan" and "Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence" are personal highlights for me.

Some great Black metal here! Nothing I haven’t heard before though, so I don’t know how it’ll hold up. But I was entertained all the way through, and had very few skips. I don’t really like the production though

"Wow, that was a lot of stuff."

I'm left feeling scatterbrained. It was a lot of stuff, it was pretty good, but I don't know what to do with it. Interesting, but difficult to assimilate.

another banger. still sounding fresh, even if the formula remains the same with the expected concoction of riffs with a few tweaks here and there.
in this case, those subtle synths and melodic guitars really stand out, particularly on Memories Within.... and Primordial Philosophy. the more straightforward tracks have, as expected, absolutely killer riffs. production does sound more fuzzy and muddy, akin to older albums, but certainly not in a bad way. a cool throwback!

Unless you're enamoured by the vocals you'd be hard pressed to listen to the whole thing. I've listened to (and enjoyed) Inquisition on the past, but is there some long term objective to turn into an a cappella? I can barely hear anything else.

Annoying vocals. Not much variation in the drumming as well. Production was not good either. Great lyrical content though.

I love the more atmosphere-focused approach and the lyrics. This album does what it sounds like they wanted it to

If you are into Black Metal you can't really miss with Inquisition. Their discography is very good overall and "Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence" is not an exception. Sure you can argue that this album does not offer a lot of novelty when compared to the rest of their discography. Just to be clear Dagon & Incubus do not experiment a lot & they stick to the formula they crafted masterfully. Yeah it is predictable but you know you are in for a treat! The beauty of this album is that it was made by a recognizable/distinguishable brand of black metal with reptile-like vocals and it's executed just as we are all used to. Don't be a fool & give this release a chance if you haven't already. It's a rock solid 9 for me & it is a testament to why I consider Inquisition one of the greats of BM.

I like the vocals, riffs, atmosphere, but unfortunately it sounds horrible. what i mean is that production is bad. which is a shame, cause this band is super unique.
