Additional info
Most of the songs on this album had previously appeared on the band's 1979 album Return To Base and 1980 EP Six Of The Best. Following several years of languishing sales and minimal chart success, the band's surprise appearance at the 1980 Reading Festival, replacing Ozzy Osbourne as the headliner at the last minute, brought them renewed recognition; We'll Bring The House Down was put together to capitalize on Slade's resurgence, combining what the band considered their strongest songs of the material recorded in the preceding couple of years.

The single "We'll Bring The House Down" was the band's first single to chart since 1977's "My Baby Left Me/That's All Right" and their first top 10 hit since 1975's "Thanks For The Memory (Wham Bam Thank You Mam)".

Reissued by Salvo in 2007 with bonus tracks. The bonus tracks consist of the following:
- the remaining songs from Return To Base that did not appear on the original album ("Chakeeta", "Don't Waste Your Time (Back Seat Star)", "Sign Of The Times", "I'm Mad", and "GInny, Ginny")
- "Not Tonight Josephine", the B-side to the single "Sign Of The Times"
- the non-LP single "Okey Cokey", which is a rendition of the 19th-century British folk song also popularly known as the Hokey Pokey
- "9 to 5", the only song from the Six Of The Best EP that did not appear on the original album
